Smear campaign shows reason to avoid politics

-

I voted for neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton, as I wanted no blood on my hands and no longer consider myself a Republican, but a very independent voter.

I am beyond appalled, disgusted and literally sickened by the blatant smear campaign being waged by the Senate Judiciary Committee against Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Since neither the FBI nor the committee has found fault with this man the Democrats have launched a last-minute attack with the nastiest accusation they have been sitting on for weeks.

The real problem with Judge Kavanaugh is that he is a moderate conservative. This outrageous stance is completely unacceptable to the left-leaning Democrats, so they have sunk to the lowest display of dirty politics just as their leader Sen. Chuck Schumer vowed: “I will do everything I can to stop this nomination,” apparently including slandering a man for an unfounded and unproven accusation of misbehavior when he was a minor child with allegations they have been sitting on for weeks.

It is all merely a desperate last-minute move to try to delay until next year the vote the Democrats know they won’t win unless they can gain a few more seats in the midterm elections. Sen. Dianne Feinstein has horribly and permanently strained a long and distinguished career as a moderate Democrat by withholding what she hopes will be damaging evidence that the FBI has declined to investigate because they have already thoroughly vetted this nominee.

The fear mongering in this campaign makes even Trump look like the piker he is. Anyone who went to school knows that no justice or group of justices can simply pull up a “settled Law” (Brett Kavanaugh’s words) and modify, change or eliminate it. Yet constantly we hear that Roe vs. Wade is at risk if this man is confirmed. He is nothing like Donald Trump yet Democrats are trying to glue the two together and cover them both with the same mud. Is there no shame anymore?

No wonder decent, honest people of integrity no longer want to wade into the cesspool that is American politics today. May God have mercy on America.
