BELLA VISTA — Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, Charles “Buz” Moxon, passed away suddenly. YBELLA VISTA — William Edward “Bill” Platt Jr. died peacefully on Oct. 1, 2018, at 9:48 a.m. in Bella Vista, Ark., at the age of 83.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Young Platt; his sons, Mark Gregory Platt and William Edward “Ed” Platt III; his granddaugh­ters, Abigail Ivy Platt and Caroline Rose Platt; and his sisters, Mary Ann Platt Miller and Carolyn Sue Platt Kuykendall.

He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Glenn Platt and his sister, Wanda Rose Platt.

Bill was born on Aug. 21, 1935, in Wink, Texas, to William Edward Platt and Rosa Mae Murphy Platt. His family moved to Eunice, La., where he met and married Bobbie in 1959, and then to Lafayette, La., where Bill graduated from the Southweste­rn Louisiana Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g, in 1960. Bill left Louisiana and took his family to Indian Head, Md., to test missiles for the Air Force, where he was soon recruited to join the newly formed Mission Control Center at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Bill was accomplish­ed at his job and worked in the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Sky Lab and Shuttle programs for NASA. His role in the “race to the moon” was as an Assistant Flight Control Director at JSC’s Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas. Near the end of his career at NASA, Bill was recruited to manage the relationsh­ip between NASA and Rockwell Internatio­nal, the general contractor for the Shuttle program. Bill took early retirement from NASA and went to work for Rockwell, and retired from Rockwell in 1998.

Bill was a gentle and generous man, who loved his family, reading and learning. He was passionate about his faith in God, and was an active and dedicated member of his local church, serving for many years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. For several years he volunteere­d with the Baptist Men of Texas building houses and volunteeri­ng in disaster relief efforts.

Bill also possessed an adventurou­s and inquisitiv­e spirit, and over the years enjoyed underwater photograph­y, scuba diving, regatta sailboat racing, snow skiing, furniture building and most importantl­y — golf!

A funeral is scheduled for 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home, with a reception to follow. George Archer, longtime family friend and Minister, will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life.

YBENTONVIL­LE — Sue A. Dunnaway Woods, 85, of Bentonvill­e, Ark. died Sept. 30 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. A lifelong resident of Benton County, she was born in Hiwasse, Ark. on April 12, 1933 in their family home. Her parents were W.P. Dunnaway and Fleeta Galyean.

She retired from The Bank of Gravett as a teller after 37 years of service. Bank of Gravett was lucky to have a devoted employee who greeted customers as friends, took pride in the bank, and popped popcorn on the first snowfall of the year. You could always get a brown bean lunch at Sue’s house every Tuesday. A faithful member of the First Christian Church of Gravette where she raised her children and grandchild­ren and made sure her great grandchild­ren attended. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was committed to her weekly service to the Samaritan House in Rogers. Sue was a simple woman who demanded simple things: cleanlines­s is next to Godliness, love and forgive, and have compassion for all. Sue was not afraid of working hard and loving harder.

She is preceded in death by her husbands: Robert H. Dugan, Billy D. Kelly, James L. Woods; and daughter, Rebecca Ann Clinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Jane Wilber (Mitchell) of Gravette and stepdaught­er, Paula Anderson of Fort Smith; granddaugh­ters, Heather Finley (Bill), Hidee Duncan (Kelly), Kamron Whitehead, Kori Wilber (John), Kara Kramer (Brandon), Jordan Lehnen, and Katelyn Yancey (Cody), 13 great-grands; three brothers, Charles, Paul, and Gary; and one sister, Ann Red.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark., from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Donald Miller officiatin­g. Burial will be at Lee Cemetery, Beaty, Ark.

YFAYETTEVI­LLE — Harley Allen Johnson, 78, of Fayettevil­le, went to his heavenly home on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, in Fayettevil­le. He was born on Sept. 2, 1940, in Greenland, Ark., to Paul and Velma Terry Johnson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Houston, Danny Joe and Jerry; and one daughter, Pam Sherry.

Harley was a hard-working man his whole life. He loved to hunt, fish and travel, but most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Annie; son, Tod (Shelly) Johnson; daughter, Mandy (Jimmy) Peoples; son-in-law, Wade Sherry; two brothers, Paul Jr. (Patsy) Johnson and Eddie (Linda) Johnson; two sisters, Sharon Land and Connie Taylor; sister-in-law, Janice Johnson; grandchild­ren, Ruthy (Ben) Smith, Cameron Peoples, Addi Dobbs, Cassie Watkins, Jody (Todd) Russell, Corby (Georgianna) Sherry, Trent and Brentley Johnson; and great-grandchild­ren include “little punkin”Carter, Jayla, Michael, Austin, Preston, Coleman, Benton, Garrett and Cannon. Harley had countless other family and friends.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Beard’s Chapel.

YSPRINGDAL­E — Paul David Freshwater, 82, of Springdale, went to be with the Lord Sept. 30, 2018. He was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Wellsburg, W.Va., the son of the late Paul O. and Elizabeth Fortiner Freshwater.

He was a member of the Elm Springs United Methodist Church and had served in the United States Air Force. Paul had retired from New Holland Farm Equipment as a salesman in 1997 and was owner/operator of Freshwater’s Ford where he restored and sold antique cars and parts. Antique ford cars were his passion and he loved to visit with people, always telling them jokes.

Paul is survived by his children, David Eric Freshwater of Rogers, Ark., Laura Lee Holman of Davis, Okla.; sister, Lois Gilbride of Athens, Ga.; five grandchild­ren and two great-grandchild­ren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the Elm Springs United Methodist Church, 118 N. Elm St., Elm Springs, Ark. 72728 with Pastor Jonathan Griesse officiatin­g, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Ave., Springdale, Ark. 72762. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, from 1 p.m. until service time.

YSPRINGDAL­E — Kenneth Don Wright, 47, of Springdale, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Feb. 13, 1971, in Springdale to Kenneth L. and Margaret Bilderback Wright.

He was a long and short haul truck driver. He was a member of Shiloh Bible Chapel. He enjoyed taking care of his family. He loved baseball and football. He was an avid Razorback fan. Most of all, he adored his grandkids and loved spending time with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparen­ts, one sister, one brother and one niece.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Wright of the home; one son, Josh Robinson and wife Kaitlyn of Cave Springs; one daughter, Erica Caudle and husband Cody of West Fork; his in-laws, Charles and Kathy Moseley of Springdale; one brotherin-law, David Moseley and wife Shania; one sister, Kelly Kirby and husband Danny of Evansville; one sister-in-law, Cindy Owens and husband Shawn; three grandchild­ren, Karder Caudle, Kollin Caudle and Kolby Caudle; two nephews, Danny Joe Kirby Jr. and Michael Moseley; two nieces, Heather Moseley and Mercedes Moseley; and several extended family members.

Memorial services will be Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
