His specious remarks
Message to Mike Masterson: Attempted sexual assault is not the same as a “supposed groping incident.”
This was only one of the misdirections in your column Sunday. Others are conflating the Judiciary Committee hearing of Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday with some kind of legal proceeding by inferring that he (Kavanaugh) was judged as “guilty-till-proven-innocent in today’s America.” Brett Kavanaugh wants to be a judge on the Supreme Court of the United States; any information concerning his fitness for that position is relevant. Another is asserting that the timeliness of Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations were politically motivated when all concerned state that she asked for a delay before going public and it is Republicans who are trying to rush through this nomination before the midterm elections.
To top it all, you quote Mollie Hemingway saying that the “Republican senators, however, seem to lack the discernment to understand when they’re getting played by people who hate them and want them destroyed.” How convenient! You obviously don’t remember (or choose not to) that it was the Republican Party and Mitch McConnell who refused to even hold hearings for over nine months on the nomination of Merrick Garland for Supreme Court justice by President Obama. Who wants whom destroyed?
It is difficult to square your pleas for a return to journalistic integrity with the specious remarks in this politically biased screed.
