NWA Boutique show benefits small businesses and local charities

- By Karen Rice

It’s here! The Northwest Arkansas Boutique Show returns for its 12th year of festive fun this November 16-17. For two days, the Convention Center in Springdale will be transformed into a holiday wonderland and shopping extravaganza, with food, music and festivities that will draw thousands from miles around.

“It really has become the holiday shopping event of the season,” says K.C. Pummill, who produces the annual show along with 10 of her friends.

The NWA Boutique Show is the traditional kick-off to the holiday shopping season. Shoppers love the chance to shop at more than 150 boutiques—all under one roof— for gifts, home décor, clothing, gourmet food, children’s items, art, furniture and so much more.

The idea for the show began as a way of helping small business owners and the community at the same time. “We built this show during a recession to help small business owners stay afloat when many couldn’t afford to have brick and mortars,” K.C. notes. “For many merchants, this is their main source of revenue for the year!”

In the dozen years of its existence, the show has supported projects of the Junior League of NWA , Fayetteville Junior Civic League, The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of NWA, Northwest Arkansas Arts Foundation, American Heart Association, CASA, local schools, youth programs, churches and many, many more worthy causes.

“We have given tens of thousands of dollars to local charities. We have a heart for small business, women and our community,” K.C. says proudly.

K.C. and her energetic committee work hard to cultivate a collection of incredible, quality merchants in order to bring unique items to Northwest Arkansas.

“We have hundreds of applications and we meticulously sort through them during merchant jury to curate exactly the right mix for our audience,” she says.

K.C. is enthusiastic when she talks about the fun, festive vibe people will find at the show.

“It’s a great kick off to the holiday season! Festive music, holiday decor, friendly people and amazing food… there’s so much positive energy in the place!”

And it’s the perfect opportunity to do some holiday ‘power shopping,’ with 150 boutiques all in one place.

“We have more boutiques under one roof then both NWA malls combined! Knock out your holiday shopping in one day!,” advises K.C. “Get a taste of 150 boutiques that would take you weeks to explore if you were driving all around town. Save gas money, come to the show, and finish up your Christmas list!”
