■ Cynthia Watkins, co-owner of a wolf conservati­on preserve in Chipley, Fla., is asking people not to shoot a 16-year-old gray wolf named Tahane that escaped after an oak tree fell on its enclosure during Hurricane Michael.

■ Kenny Freeman, 43, the sheriff of Nowata County, Okla., was charged with embezzleme­nt after state investigat­ors accused him of stealing donated school supplies left at the sheriff’s office for safekeepin­g and using them for his election campaign.

■ John Russo, a New Jersey family court judge, said before a judicial disciplina­ry panel that he had told a woman seeking a restrainin­g order that she could “close your legs” to stop a sexual assault, saying he made the comment to elicit more details from her about the man she said forced her to have sex.

■ Roy Drennon, 50, who police said was “showing off” when he lost control of his Porsche Spyder and plowed into a crowd, injuring 11 people at a 2017 car show in Boise, Idaho, faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine after being found guilty of reckless driving.
