■ Kevin McCarthy, the U.S. House Republican majority leader, posted photos on social media of a rock on the floor of his Bakersfiel­d, Calif., office, saying he needs public help to identify the two men caught on security video tossing the rock through a window to break in and steal office equipment.

■ Bruce Alexander, 49, of Tampa, Fla., accused of groping a woman on a flight from Houston to Albuquerqu­e, N.M., told authoritie­s after his arrest that “the President of the United States says it’s ok to grab women by their private parts,” according to a criminal complaint.

■ Doug Stewart, 29, serving a life sentence in the death of his wife eight years ago, led authoritie­s to where he buried her body in Kalamazoo County, Mich., in exchange for an Xbox video game and permission to participat­e in some prison programs.

■ Catherine Pugh, the mayor of Baltimore, wants to raise roughly $4 million over the next two years to enroll 100 young people, known as “squeegee kids” because they dart in and out of traffic to wash car windows, in a job training program.

■ Thomas Atkocaitis, 57, and Denise Atkocaitis, 55, both of New Boston, N.H., face charges after authoritie­s said they confined a girl under the age of 18 for more than two months in a basement room that had mesh-covered windows and was rigged with an alarm. ■ Samuel Herbert of Buffalo, N.Y., saying, “Enough of the symbolism, we want realism,” has collected more than 6,000 signatures on a petition calling for the city to replace a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. that doesn’t look like King and that the artist described as a “representa­tion” of the slain civil-rights leader.

■ Xiao Xia Zha of New York City was sentenced to 18 months in prison after she admitted traffickin­g $3 million worth of counterfei­t goods, including knockoff Louis Vuitton handbags and Nike footwear, through a New Jersey port.

■ Monique Johns, 49, a Democrat running for Delaware’s Legislatur­e, asked voters to forgive her after she admitted removing her opponent’s campaign literature from the front door of a home and replacing it with her own.

■ Randy Grim, founder of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, said Quentin, a mixed-breed dog that gained national attention 14 years ago when he emerged alive from a city pound gas chamber and was used to spearhead the no-kill movement, died after a stroke.
