UAPB wins SWAC title

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff won its first SWAC championsh­ip since 1993 on Monday in Clinton, Miss.

The Golden Lions finished with 62 points, beating Prairie View A&M. Junior Wade Garner led the way, finishing fourth with a time of 26 minutes, 20.3 seconds to earn first-team allSWAC honors. Junior Laurel Heath finished 10th with a time of 26:50.44.

Freshman Toshin Agbede finished 13th with a time of 26:56.44, and D’Andre Mighty and Akeem Marshall finished 16th and 17th, respective­ly.

In addition, Heath was named all-conference second team, and head Coach Chris McCoy was named coach of the year.

MEN’S GOLF Arkansas fourth in Texas

The University of Arkansas finished fourth at the Royal Oaks Intercolle­giate in Carrollton, Texas, on Tuesday.

The Razorbacks finished with an 867 in the 54-hole event, which was won by Oklahoma State with an 827. North Carolina State was second (859) followed by SMU (863).

Individual­ly, Mason Overstreet finished tied for ninth with a 5-over 215.

ASU wins LR Invitation­al

Arkansas State University won the Little Rock Invitation­al at Chenal Country Club on Tuesday.

The Red Wolves finished with a 863 (298-283-282), winning by one stroke over UNLV (864), two over Illinois State (865) and 17 over the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (302-283295). The University of Central Arkansas finished 17th with a 927 (306-304-317).

Individual­ly, Matthew Cole of Arkansas State finished tied for second with a 213 (77-67-69), finishing three strokes back of Harry Hall of UNLV. Luka Naglic finished tied for sixth at 216 (75-70-71).

Danial Durisic of UALR finished ninth with a 217 (76-69-72), and Logan Pate finished tied for 10th at 218 (75-72-71). Miles Smith of the University of Central Arkansas finished tied for 63rd at 230 (74-80-76).

UAFS men finish 16th in California

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith men finished 16th with a 920 at the Otter Invitation­al in Seaside, Calif.

Lynn University (Fla.) won the event with an 861 while Barry University (Fla.) was second with an 869.

Individual­ly, Arkansas-Fort Smith’s Robert Garcia finished 39th with a 225 (76-71-78).

WOMEN’S GOLF

ASU runner-up in Texas

Arkansas State University finished second at the UT Arlington Invitation­al in Mansfield, Texas.

The Red Wolves finished with a 898, eight strokes back of South Alabama. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock finished sixth with a 936.

Individual­ly, Olivia Schmidt of Arkansas State finished sixth with a 222 (74-72-76), and Aracelly Jimenez-Rios finished tied for seventh with a 224 (76-74-74). UALR’s Emelie Blennow finished tied for 12th with a 227 (79-71-77).

UAFS finishes fourth in Oklahoma

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith finished fourth at the Oklahoma Intercolle­giate Invitation­al on Tuesday in Lawton, Okla.

The Lady Lions shot a 620 for the 36-hole event, finishing 26 strokes back of Tarleton State (594). Oklahoma Christian was second (598) and Angelo State was third at 611.

Individual­ly, Tyler Morrison finished eighth overall with a 151 (77-74) while Mallory Horn finished tied for 11th at 152 (76-76).

SWIMMING AND DIVING Schultz earns SEC honor

University of Arkansas sophomore Brooke Schultz earned her second SEC Diver of the Week honor on Tuesday.

Schultz’s 3-meter score (404.77) at South Carolina set a school record, one she previously set last season.

She swept both diving events, with her 1-meter score over 25 points higher than the second-place finisher and her 3-meter score nearly 75 points higher than the second-place finisher. Her scores were the highest of any diver in the SEC this weekend.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

UCA’s Ricks earns Southland award

Kristen Ricks of the University of Central Arkansas was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Ricks helped the Bears (14-3-1, 9-1-0 Southland) shut out Nicholls State and Southeaste­rn Louisiana to help win the Southland Conference title and extend their winning streak to eight games.

OBU shuts out Harding

Bryson Thomas scored in the 56th minute to give Ouachita Baptist University a 1-0 victory over Harding University in Arkadelphi­a on Tuesday.

Ouachita Baptist (8-8-0, 6-5-0 GAC) won despite being outshot 16-11.

Jessica Woessner made three saves for Harding (6-9-0, 6-5-0) despite receiving a red card in the 88th minute and being ejected. She was replaced by Ashton Springer. Erin Webster made six saves for Ouachita Baptist.

VOLLEYBALL Arkansas Tech sweeps UAM

Arkansas Tech University swept the University of Arkansas at Monticello 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 on Tuesday in Russellvil­le.

Hunter Eshnaur led the Golden Suns (16-9, 9-4 Great American Conference) with 13 kills. Emily Acker had 23 assists and Meredith Darnell had 10 digs.

Shayna Daniels led Arkansas-Monticello (6-23, 3-10) with 21 assists and six digs. Leslie Polanco had seven kills.

Harding extends winning streak to seven

Zoe Hardin had 10 kills as Harding University won its seventh consecutiv­e match, 25-10, 25-18, 25-21, over Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.

Rachel Heussner had 33 assists for the Lady Bisons (19-7, 12-1 GAC) while Taylor Lake had 17 assists. Caitlin Murdock had 26 assists for Southern Arkansas (8-18, 2-11).
