■ Emily West, and her brother, Andy, children of Republican Missouri House candidate Steve West, 64, are urging people not to vote for their father because they say he espouses racial and homophobic views and dislikes Jews and Muslims. ■ Dorie Stevenson, 32, and Samantha Stevenson, 27, two unrelated Ontario women accused in separate cases of bilking people out of thousands of dollars for their “psychic” services, were charged with the crime of “pretending to practice witchcraft” under Canada’s criminal code.

■ Petra Laszlo, the news camera operator who was filmed kicking migrants as they passed her on the Serbian border in 2015, was cleared of disorderly-conduct charges by Hungary’s Supreme Court, which ruled that her behavior “morally incorrect and illicit” but not a criminal act. ■ Caleb Hiegel, an Arizona state trooper, and rancher Dave Moralez followed tracks leading from a wrecked car on a highway near Wickenburg for about 500 yards to rescue an injured 53-year-old woman who survived six days in the desert.

■ Dominic Anderson and Jared Phillips, two 17-year-old high school students participat­ing in an archaeolog­ical dig at George Washington’s estate at Mount Vernon, Va., turned up a potato-shaped, 7-inchlong stone that turned out to be a 6,000-year-old stone ax head.

■ John Yarmuth, a Democrat who represents Kentucky’s 3rd Congressio­nal District, said a display featuring Nazi Christmas decoration­s and an Ku Klux Klan robe at a gun show in Louisville is “symptomati­c of what we’re dealing with now” where it “seems to be OK to publicly condone white supremacy.”

■ Scott Smoak, a fire battalion chief in Volusia County, Fla., said a man who climbed down a narrow 30foot well just “to say he did it,” had to be rescued after he became stuck because he didn’t have the strength to pull himself out.

■ Kierah Lagrave, 22, of Plattsburg­h, N.Y., caught on security video walking up to a nightclub bouncer and choking him into unconsciou­sness after she mistakenly thought he had slapped her buttocks, was arrested on a charge of felony strangulat­ion, police said.

■ Kevin Battipagli­a, 33, a Baltimore police officer, was charged with destroying police property after he was caught on security video kicking a hole in the department’s front desk.
