Personal space
Where I live: I live on 200 acres with my husband, six dogs, and one cat. We live in rural Austin. Having lived in West Little Rock before I moved here, I assure you, I had a big adjustment. Now, l would live no other place. I have become an avid animal watcher. We feed the deer 2,000 pounds of corn each winter and watch the raccoons play in the feeder.
Occupation: I am a retired financial services professional. My husband just retired from the water and sewer business. Having so much property, we always have a project of some kind going. I am currently working to train one of my labs to be a duck dog.
My favorite space: It’s really hard to pinpoint a favorite place in our home. I love everything we did in our renovation. When we married 12 years ago I was persuaded to sell my home and remodel this one. My husband loves being out and away, so I was willing if I could make the house my own. We did a 9-month remodel and I loved every minute of it. If one room stands out to me, it’s the kitchen. I have a nook that I love where I read and drink coffee.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Add a dining room. We didn’t think we would use it, so I gave away my dining room furniture and proceeded with our renovation. Now, every holiday, we have all the children and grandchildren and I miss that room terribly.
