Maybe Trump comes by his flaws honestly

-

Maybe I’ve misjudged President Trump when he rails about immigrants. After all, he unlike most of us, came from a family of immigrants. His father changed their German name to Trump, in what may have been an attempt to disassociate them from the Germans. To further blur the truth, he told people they were Swedish.

Donald himself took to lying very early, using it for what appears to be a way to be accepted by people whose wealth and success was real, while Trump’s wealth was unearned by him, and only transferred to his account by his father as a way to avoid taxes.

When it comes to his allegation that immigrants are thieves, an unfair representation, I now see how his many bankruptcies don’t bother him, knowing that his inability to pay for work done by construction workers and various service providers, two groups of workers he has expressed no respect for, goes without any empathy for what his cheating does to the stability of the worker’s family income and ability to live a decent life.

And, when he calls immigrants rapists, it may just be because he finds nothing wrong with his sexually predatory behavior with women, and because he tells us of his great wealth (most often overstated) he feels he, No. 1, is so handsome, and, No. 2, so rich that these women are getting a great gift from his groping and snatching.

So, the next time I hear him or anyone referring to immigrants in this manner, I’ll consider them just trying to act “Trump-like,” thinking it is a good thing. But now, considering his background, I understand.

But even knowing this, I cannot rationalize why he won’t show us, as promised many times, his income tax filings for the past years as all other modern presidents have done before being sworn in. We have not lost interest in them. What it makes me think is we must do all we can to restore standards of behavior and compliance with traditional governmental practices (like disclosure of assets, etc.)

And always make your vote count to restore our government where men and women can govern as they have before, legally!
