SPRINGDALE — Judith B. “Judy” Shinall Overton,

of Springdale, Arkansas, passed from this life on December 7, 2018 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born November 18, 1940 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Samuel Wirt Blankenship and Julia Cooke Blankenship.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory are her husband, Mike Overton; stepdaughter Micah Overton of Springdale; sons, Brent Shinall, Jr. and wife Claudia of Houston, Texas, Pat Shinall and wife Jan of Springdale, and Brian Shinall and wife Lauren of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Michael, Joe, Hudson Wayne, Riley Ann, Lance Shinall, Cole Shinall and wife Jessica, Linden Shinall, Tyler Shinall, Brinkley Shinall and Brynn Shinall; a sister, Jo Ann Blankenship of Little Rock, Arkansas; a brother, John Robert Blankenship and wife Lee of Weirsdale, Florida.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Julia Blankenship; and brother, Samuel Wirt Blankenship, III.

Judy graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1958 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where she was a proud member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Delta Iota Chapter. She received her Master of Education degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She began her 30-year career teaching kindergarten at the First United Methodist Church Children’s World, then went on to teach at Westwood Elementary, Central Jr. High and taught biology at Springdale High School.

After retiring from teaching she had a career in real estate as co-owner of Overton Realty. After retiring again she heard the call and began as a volunteer at the Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary and loved every minute of the activity as well as her many friends there.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Springdale, Arkansas. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at First United Methodist Church.
