Highlands Church celebrates the season
Highlands Church is a United Methodist Congregation in the Highlands area of Bella Vista. We are entering the glorious season of advent, preparing for the birth of Christ Jesus with various celebrations.
Advent is celebrated each Sunday of December with hanging of the greens, lighting of the Advent candle each week, and the music of the season. We offer three opportunities to worship each weekend, in three distinct styles. Sunday traditional worship is at 9:30 a.m., The Gathering worship is Sunday at 11:15 a.m., and Celebrations Worship is Saturdays at 5:30 p.m.
The Chacel Choir, under the direction of John Matthews, will present Lloyd Larson’s “The Glory of Christmas” on Saturday, December 15 at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m. The Chancel Choir is accompanied by pianist Pam Meyer and organist Jeanine Wagar. Christmas brunch will follow. The public is invited to join us for this beautiful performance.
On Christmas Eve at 4:00 p.m. we will have our traditional family candlelighting communion service. The beautiful story of Christ’s birth will be the focus of the service as we celebrate in music and message, and participate in the Lord’s supper.
The highlight of Highland Church’s Christmas season is “The Gathering” worship service, Sundays at 11:15 a.m. This family-friendly contemporary service features lively Christian music by our Praise Band, under the leadership of James Hendrix. Highland’s Pastor Robert Cloninger preaches scripturally-based sermons each week. Nursery, childcare, and children’s activities are provided.
We would love to have you join us. Everyone is welcome.
