BELLA VISTA — Kendall

Allen Johnson, 78, died Jan. 1, 2019. He was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Galesburg, Ill., to Juanita Cunningham Hill and Leslie Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna, of 53 years, two sons, Keith of the home and Lance of Pearland, Texas; three grandchild­ren, Jacob Johnson, Jordan Rodriguez and Madelyn Leaman all of Pearland, Texas; two sisters and two brothers, Cosetta (Larry) Hammerlund and Timothy Hill of Galesburg, Ill.; Suellen (Gerald) Davis of Bella Vista and Thomas Hill of Orlando, Florida, and 19 nieces and nephews. Kendall was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Fred Hill, and a sister and brotherin-law, Mary (Hill) and Roger Showalter.

Kendall graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958. He served four years in the Air Force at Altus Air Force Base, Okla. In 1965 he moved to the Chicago area where he met and married Lorna. They moved to Peoria in 1974 where he worked seven years as accounting manager and controller for Aggregate Equipment.

In 1981 the family moved to Rogers and started Custom Dome Homes. Kendall built about 55 geodesic homes in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Texas. They were active members of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers for 15 years. They moved to Bella Vista in 1996 and transferre­d church membership to Christ the King Lutheran in Bentonvill­e. His church has been a very important part of his life. He loved golfing, landscapin­g, bowling, pinochle and the Cubs and Bears.

A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bentonvill­e at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 officiated by longtime friend and pastor, Rev. Richard Solberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

BRANNAN MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY — Tim Cleveland,

age 32, of Brannan Mountain community passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, in Fayettevil­le. He was born Jan. 21, 1986, in Birmingham, Ala., the son of Tim and Terri Shaw.

He was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts Dorothy and Wayne Reed.

A die-hard Alabama fan who loved to hunt, fish, four wheeling, going fast and off-roading. He liked to work with his hands and was a hard worker. His joy in life was his family and his daughter, TNT.

He is survived by one daughter, May LeAnn Cleveland of Fayettevil­le; his parents, Tim and Terri Shaw of Brannan Mountain community; three brothers, Ronnie Cleveland of Kandiyohi, Minn.; Tony Cleveland of Brannan Mountain community; Thomas Cleveland and his wife Erin of Hazel Valley; three nieces, Aubrie, Claire and Haylie and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Brannon Mountain Church with burial at the Brannon Mountain Cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.

ELKINS — Betty Stowers,

71, of Elkins, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at her home. She was born March 25, 1947, in Delaney, Ark., to Ervin and Agnes Hill Hollingswo­rth.

She was preceded in death

by her parents.

Betty was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church where she served for years as church custodian. She loved fishing, being outdoors, working in her flowers and she loved her Trinity. Betty spent her last days talking and visiting with family and reading her bible. She was lovingly cared for by her husband until the very end.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Stowers of the home, to whom she was married Dec. 6, 1962; daughters, Donna Cunningham of Elkins; Marsha Mulanax and husband Kenneth of Elkins; son Anthony Stowers and wife Gena of Fayettevil­le; a sister, Maggie Hattabaugh of Elkins; seven grandchild­ren, Kevin Bates, Dustin Cunningham, Ashton Schwab, Trevor Mulanax, and Trinity, Tyler and Abby Stowers; and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Beard’s Chapel with Pastor Anthony Stowers and Rev. Johnny Drummond officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Brannon Moun tain Cemetery. There is no scheduled visitation.

ROGERS — Bill James

Fithian, 95, of Rogers passed away Jan. 5, 2019, in Rogers surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Joplin, Mo., the son of Harold and Dovie Rhines Fithian.

Bill was a locomotive engineer for Western Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and served in the Army Air Corps.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Helen Fithian and one son, Ricky Fithian.

He is survived by his children Robin Hinkley and husband Doug of Rogers and Dana McCoy and husband Kenny Mac of Rogers; his brother Harold Fithian of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchild­ren, Dana Abbott and husband Roger, Susan Satterlee and husband Scott, Rick Sauls and wife Misty, Brian Sauls, Lacey Sauls, Karie Sexson and husband Mike, Kristin Aguilar and husband Rolondo and Kenny McCoy II; 20 great-grandchild­ren and four great-great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth, Rogers. Interment with military honors will follow at Benton County Memorial Park.

ROGERS — Billie Ray Yarbrough was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Dale, Ark., to Roy Ancil Yarbrough and Opal Cowan Yarbrough Thomas. He passed away Jan. 5, 2019. He was 75.

He worked at Daisy BB Guns and Walmart DC.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Ancil Yarbrough and Opal Cowan Yarbrough Thomas and her husband, James Alvin; his brother, Ancil Lee Yarbrough.

He is survived by his sons, Billy D. Yarbrough of Springdale, Ark.; Roy E. Yarbrough of Derby, Kan.; Monty Ray Yarbrough of Carl Junction, Mo.; his daughters, Angela M. Fletcher and husband, Joel of Nazareth, Pa.; Teresa R. Lee and husband, Scott of Morris, Okla.; his brothers, Leroy Yarbrough of Oark, Ark.; Gary Yarbrough of Clarksvill­e, Ark.; his sister, Mary Catherine Comstock of Park City, Kan.; eight grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren.

SPRINGDALE — Myrl Massie, age 92, of Springdale, formerly of Farmington, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019. He was born June 14, 1926, in Delaney, Ark., the son of George Washington Massie and Nannie Cain Massie.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Massie.

Myrl retired as superinten­dent for Farmington Public Schools having already retired from the military. He was a member of the Farmington Church of Christ. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the military after 22 years of service.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Bradley and her husband Loyl of Springdale, Carol Ann Little of Rogers and Cyndy Hughes and her husband Randall of Rogers; a brother, Coy Massie and his wife Collette of Tacoma, Wash.; three sisters, Jane Wist and her husband Bobby of St. Charles, Mo., Lela Gabbard of Springdale and Earnes- tine Hankins of Elkins; seven grandchild­ren, Lara Bowen and her husband Bill, Dean Bradley, Brian Little, Candice Dangler, Amanda Hale, Aaron Hughes and his wife Jeanette and Jeremy Hughes and 28 great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be 10–11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Moore’s Chapel with a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel, burial will follow at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery with military honors.

SULPHUR SPRINGS —

Billie Jo Mullen of Sulphur Springs passed away Jan. 2, 2019. She was born May 27, 1969, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

She is survived by her father and stepmother Bill and Vanda Boyd of Sulphur Springs; brother, Lonnie Boyd and wife Michiko of Bella Vista; sister, Dawn Backus and husband Frank of Ridgedale, Mo.; “twin” brother, Corey Birchfield and wife Michelle of Siloam Springs; many nieces and nephews; her children, Zachary Boyd Wells, 32, of Goodman, Mo.; Richelle Bonneville, 29, of Virginia Beach, Va., Charlee Gann, 27, and husband Brandon of Reno Nev.; and Nicholas Boyd-Goodlett, 26, and fiancé Juli of Springdale; and four grandchild­ren, Madisyn, “EJ” Eric Jr, Jayden and Ryan.

Billie Jo enjoyed cooking, crafting, the outdoors, and traveling. She loved her family and exploring and experienci­ng new things in life. She was deeply loved by her friends and family.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the First United Pentecosta­l Church in Gravette.

YUKON, Okla. — James

Ronald Pennington, known to friends and family as Ron or Ronnie, died on Jan. 3, 2019, at the age of 75.

Ron was raised in Fayettevil­le, Ark., and attended the University of Arkansas earning an undergradu­ate degree in civil engineerin­g and a master’s degree in soils and foundation­s. In his civilian career, he practiced civil engineerin­g and constructi­on in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas until retirement.

His passion to serve our country led him to a 36-year career in the Army National Guard. He attended Command and General Staff College in 1979. He was called to active duty for Desert Storm in November 1990. Ron became brigade commander of the 142nd Field Artillery in September 1993 and retired as a colonel in June 2003. He was an active member of the American Legion. Some of his most cherished moments were spent with his fellow soldiers.

Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay Pennington; daughter, Cassie Pennington; granddaugh­ter Laney, uncle Lee Pennington and stepfather Frank James. He is also survived by his brother, Robert James and sisters, Michele James, Cathy James, Tammy Rowland, Tracy Troxell and Rowena Morrison.

Ron will be interred at the Fayettevil­le National Cemetery.
