What to buy when in 2019

-

It’s a new year and maybe you want some new stuff. Here are a few tips on what goes on sale when to help maximize your deals in 2019.

January With a fresh page on the calendar comes a fresh start for sales. Bedding, fitness equipment and TVs and electronics are items commonly discounted in January.

February It’s the month of love and gift-giving, but February might be a chance to score something for yourself. Often-discounted items for this month include more TVs, winter items and home goods (typically near President’s Day).

March There aren’t any major shopping holidays in March, but that doesn’t mean a lack of sales. Tax software and grills are often marked down this month.

April April has its fair share of spring deals and discounts: vacuums and tax-themed services, such as paper shredding. Don’t forget Easter candy and related goodies once the holiday has passed.

May April showers bring May flowers — and sales too. Consider spring apparel, furniture and small appliances this month.

June June may be one of the shorter months of the year, but its supply of deals isn’t lacking. Smart purchases include: lingerie, gym memberships and movie tickets.

July The temperature usually rises in July, but the prices of certain items drop, including on apparel or personal electronics. Many retailers have added Black Friday in July sales, including Best Buy and Amazon. Expect discounts in nearly every product category.

August Close out summer with close-out prices on school supplies, outdoor products and swimsuits.

September September is a surprising month for good buys. Pick up reasonable prices on mattresses, cell phones and appliances. Labor Day falls in September, which is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Others are Black Friday and Memorial Day.

October Don’t let the cost of shopping scare you this month; there are often deals on outdoor furniture, jeans and candy.

November November is the month for Black Friday sales, which means some of the most popular technology products fall to their lowest prices. Consider electronics, home appliances and tool purchases.

December The end of the year is just the beginning for discounts in some product categories. Look for sale prices on electronics, toys and Christmas decor, once the holiday has passed.
