DIAMOND CITY — Paul Brice Veasman, died on Jan. 31, 2019, at age 59 in Diamond City, Ark.

Paul is survived by his wife Kay Hollingswo­rth; his daughters, Amanda (Ted) Ross of St. Robert, Mo., and Amy Veasman of Oklahoma City; his sons, Brandon Veasman and Travis Veasman of Dixon, Mo.; his step-sons, Chance (Corie) Hollingswo­rth of Little Rock and Gabe (Cady) Hollingswo­rth of Fayettevil­le; and many grandchild­ren.

Paul was born on Sept. 23, 1960, in Missouri to the late Lawrence “Bud” Veasman and Wilma (Lawson) Hatchel. Paul started his career at Tan Tara Golf Resort under the direction of Fred Brewer. He was hired in 1990 by the Harrison Country Club to take on the responsibi­lity of superinten­dent. Over the 13 years at the Country Club Paul returned the course to playing respectabi­lity. Paul’s passion for his job lead him to a successful career in the landscapin­g business with his wife Kay.

In his spare time, Paul enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was playing golf, fishing, or hunting. He was always the first to lend a hand, help a friend in need, and could always be counted on. Paul will be missed by many family and friends who loved him dearly.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Connie Allen and Betty Wagoner.

Contributi­ons in memory of Paul may be made to the Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Ark., or the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Edward F. VanDuzer, 83, passed away on Feb. 11, 2019.

He was predecease­d by his parents, Howard C. and Lillian (Doran) VanDuzer and daughter Barbara.

He is survived by his brothers, Howard (Faith) VanDuzer of Thomaston, Conn., and Richard (Josephine) VanDuzer of Fort Meyers, Fla. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan Barbour VanDuzer; children, Jay (Christine) VanDuzer of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dr. Timothy VanDuzer of Henderson, Nev., Daniel (Theresa Jasen) VanDuzer of Spencerpor­t, N.Y., Linnea (Brian) Briscoe of Greencastl­e Ind., Nathan (Elizabeth) VanDuzer of Dover Mass., Sarah (Scott) Sanchez of Farmington, Ark., Vermena (Jason) Lee of Collegevil­le, Pa.; 25 grandchild­ren and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

Edward was born April 27, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Connecticu­t where he met his wife at Teachers College of Conn. He earned his MA and PhD at the University of Iowa and a MBA at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y.

He taught geography and marketing for 38 years at NY State College at Brockport, N.Y. He served for 16 years as the Brockport chapter

president of the United University Professors. He served in many ministeria­l positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He enjoyed camping and took his family on many camping trips across the U.S. and on one memorable trip to Calgary, Canada. He was a scoutmaste­r for more than 10 years ensuring that his four sons earned their Eagle Scout awards. Five of his children served in the U.S. military. Online condolence­s www. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Eulis Jackson Ward, 65, of Fayettevil­le died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at a local skilled care center. He served in the U.S. Navy. Eulis is survived by many loving relatives. FORT SMITH — After a 21-year battle with prostate cancer, Paul R. Johnson, 81, completed the last lap of his earthly race and joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 11 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Stella; son Paul; daughter Jennifer Parks (Bryan Slavens); granddaugh­ter Aubrey Parks; Stella’s son Lane Dooly (Terri); granddaugh­ter Sarah Boen; grandsons Luke and Drew Dooly; great granddaugh­ter Jordan Boen; nephews Paul, Hardy, and Gary Hodgens and nieces Yvonda Kissinger, Lisa Francis and Sabrina Watlington and many, many dear friends across the country and the globe. He also leaves behind his training partner and faithful companion Sadie, his 10 year old Australian shepherd.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. He was predecease­d by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Wilson and sisters Edith Hodgens and Virginia Anderson.

Paul was born in Branch, Ark., in 1937. He and his family moved to Fort Smith in 1938 where he attended Fort Smith schools and graduated in 1955. While at Fort Smith High School he worked in Jerry Klinginsmi­th’s print shop and made lifelong friendship­s. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Arkansas in 1962 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and where he made more lifelong friends.

He started his insurance career with the Travelers Insurance in Little Rock then was offered an opportunit­y at Rebsamen and East Insurance under the mentor ship of the legendary “bond man” Jack East. He took to the insurance business like a duck to water and following Mr. East’s path Paul made constructi­on insurance and bonds his specialty.

He moved back to Fort Smith in 1971 and along with Walter Moorman and Jim Russell started Johnson Moorman & Russell Insurance and Bonding.

Always athletic and a lover of sports of all kinds Paul began running in his late 30s and completed dozens of marathons all over the country, several triathlons and became a senior Olympian racewalker setting records all over the world and making many more amazing friends. He won more than 50 gold medals and was named Race Walker of the Year in 2001, 2003 and 2005. His record for the 10k set in 2008 still stands. He officiated University of Arkansas track meets for several years and even officiated track events at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Paul will be remembered by his family and friends for his intellect, dependabil­ity, sense of humor, and love of music, traveling, dogs and children. Paul and his family are grateful for the wonderful caregivers of Mercy Hospice and most especially Jenny, his nurse, and Shelby, his aide.

Paul has chosen to be an anatomical donor to the Arkansas Colleges for Health Education. A memorial service will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. and a visitation with the family will immediatel­y follow. MOUNTAIN VIEW — Paul Dale Mather, age 79, went to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 10, 2019, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

Paul was a native of Rogers, Ark., and was a class member of RHS class of ’58. He was a lifelong resident of Benton County. He retired to Mountain View, Ark., and resided there many years.

Paul and former wife Ellen were founders of Bentonvill­e Glass. Paul was very smart and open-minded and found success in any of his many business adventures, which follows, beside two glass shops, Jan’s dress shop, a chain of yogurt shops (Sunshine Frozen Yogurt), Northridge Emu/ Ostrich Farm, a chain of payday cash advance stores, a lawn mowing company, an ice cream parlor.

Paul was a people person, so friendly, never met a stranger, people loved him and he had so many friends. Paul enjoyed trout fishing, camping, dancing, gardening, the old country music, making others laugh, spending time with his family and friends. Paul attended Bethel Baptist in Bentonvill­e for many years and was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, song leader, and volunteere­d at time. He attended church on Sunday in Mountain View where he resided at the time of passing.

Paul was preceded in death by his only son, Gegatie Dale Mather, daughter Tandee Michelle Mather, parents Oval and Florence Mather, sisters Wilma Harper, Wanda Schubert, brother Carl Mather, also his best friend, Rusty Lanham.

Paul is survived by his former wife of 40 years; Ellen Mather of Pea Ridge, Ark.; daughter Jan and Dale Hutson of Pea Ridge; daughter-in-law Shelly Mather of Avoca; five grandchild­ren, Tandel and Matt Blood, Keiffer and Ashtin Hutson, Bailee and Tyler Roughton, all of Pea Ridge; Fawn and Jeremey Jensen of Bella Vista, Addie Stith of Bentonvill­e; nine great-grandchild­ren, Maddux, Mason, Maveric, Tatum, Trace, Layne, Jakx, Alivia, Lillian ; also former wife and close friend Bettie Smith Mather of Batesville; three siblings, brother John Mather and wife Linda of Pea Ridge, sister Mary Smith and husband Jerry of Rogers, sister Betty Stetler of Centerton.

The family would like to thank dad’s close friends, Erma Carroll who was with him at the time of passing.

PARIS — Christina Marie (Becker) Schluterma­n was born on Jan. 24, 1929, and died on Feb. 11, 2019, at age 90.

Christina married George H. Schluterma­n on June 22, 1948. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Altar Society and the Tuesday Morning Quilters Group.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 year, George H. Schluterma­n; parents Francis A. and Mary F. Becker; two brothers, Peter Becker and Joseph Becker and two sisters, Delores “Bobby” Jackson and Mary Sargent.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Cousins and husband Jerry of Little Flock, Ark., Roselyn Sharum and husband Larry of Central City, Ark., Susan Stewart of Fort Smith, Ark., George V. ROGERS — Lawrence “Alvie” Easton, 81, of Rogers, Ark., passed away at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, with his family by his side. He was born June 27, 1937, in Rector, Ark., to Clarence Easton and Verdis Huffstuttl­er Easton.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He was a hard worker and kept his hands busy serving his family and doing good for others. He truly lived the scripture “Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you.” Alvie was known by everyone as one of the nicest men you would ever have an opportunit­y to meet.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings. Alvie is survived by his wife of 52 years, JoAnn Holt Easton; two sons, Terry Easton and wife Bridgette of Jonesboro, Ark., Joe Easton of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; a dear brother-in-law, Tony Holt (Carol); one sister, Marcella Cooper of Paragould, Ark.; five grandchild­ren, Michael (Becky), Brian (Tracey), Chad (Veronica), Mackenzie and Macklaine Easton and three great grandchild­ren, Annabelle, Emery and Carter.

ROGERS — Addison McAndrew Rife, 97, of Rogers, passed away Feb. 10, 2019, in Fayettevil­le. He was born March 2, 1921, in Osage Mills, Ark., to Luther Powell Rife and Emmaline Alden Rife. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps. He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Reynolds; two grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren. SILOAM SPRINGS — David W. White, 79, of Siloam Springs, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at the Bradford House Nursing and Rehab in Bentonvill­e, Ark.

David was born on Nov. 25, 1939, in Yoakum, Ark., a son of the late Vern Presley White and Ruby Nell (Trimble) White.

He served in the Navy and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. David was a member of the Elmdale Baptist Church, the Highfill Raider’s Riding Club, and the Cave Springs Farmer’s Co-op board. Most of his life was spent in Springdale and Highfill farming and taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Anna Jean White. David is survived by his children, Teresa Bollinger and husband Scott of Trenton, Texas, and Travis White and wife Debbie of Siloam Springs, Ark.; four grandchild­ren, Brana Dunlap, Tera Sallee, Ashton Luedecke and Jed White; nine great grandchild­ren, Caiden Sallee, Hadden Stiles, Emery Sallee, Mika Villegas, Charlize Prince, Kade White, Landry Luedecke, Lauren Luedecke and Archer White; two siblings, Robert Vern White and wife Donnie of Highfill, Ark., and Jane Whittle and husband Harold of Springdale, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born Sept. 29, 1982, in Marianna to Lori Ann and Oatis Angelo Wake Jr. Lacey was a creative, artistic person. During her life she enjoyed writing and creating various art pieces.
