PREP BASEBALL JONESBORO 11, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 10

A six-run lead wasn’t enough as the Wildcats’ bullpen gave up eight runs in fifth and sixth innings against Jonesboro on Saturday.

Kirby Jenkins again delivered with three RBIs and Rally Miller also knocked in three to pace the Har-Ber offense. Blake Adams was 2-for-3 with a triple and Clay Burtrum also drove in a pair.

Landon McAlister started and went 22/3 innings and did not allow a hit for Har-Ber, but two relievers gave up a combined nine hits, eight runs and three walks before Blaise Wittschen pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Garrett Childers was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs for Jonesboro.

SPRINGDALE HIGH 14, JUNCTION CITY 6

Will Mueller put on an offensive show, going 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to power the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Brock Pounders and Tanner Sargent also had big days at the plate. Pounders was 2-for-2 and stole two bases, and Sargent was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Bulldogs (3-1).

Nick West earned the win, going two innings and allowing two hits, two earned runs and struck out two.

VAN BUREN 10, WYNNE 0

Trevor Johnson fired a no-hitter, and the Pointers scored in every inning.

Jackson Hurst belted a three-run home run for Van Buren, and Landry Wilkerson and Seth Humphrey had two hits each for Van Buren.

BENTONVILLE WEST 14, PINE BLUFF 3

West scored at least one run in five of six innings as the Wolverines pounded Pine Bluff in a tournament at Benton.

West (3-1) scored four runs in the third to snap a 1-1 tie, then added five more in the fourth to build a 9-3 lead. The Wolverines then added a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

Maddox Thornton pitched 31/3 innings to pick up the win, while Kendall Thornton pitched the final 22 /3 innings. Joey Aden had two hits and drove in three runs, while Maddox Thornton had two hits and Zach Trammell drove in three runs.

FRIDAY’S RESULTS ROGERS HERITAGE 11, BATESVILLE SOUTHSIDE 1

Ryan Carlson went 3-for-3 with two doubles and drove in four runs to lead the War Eagles to the nonconference season-opening win.

Heritage scored six runs in the top of the second and never looked back in the run-rule win. Ward Richardson also went 3-for-4, while Asher Cameron and Vance Tobol drove in two runs each for Heritage.

Jeb Brown picked up the win, allowing a run on three hits over four innings. Ben Pollock finished up with two hitless innings.

GREENWOOD 9, BOONEVILLE 2

Peyton Holt went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in three runs to lead the Bulldogs to the nonconference win.

Cotton Sagely also went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs, who snapped a 2-2 tie with a run in the bottom of the third and went on to the win. Nick Vaughn also drove in two runs. Both Holt and Sagely also scored two runs each.

Nick Phelps picked up the win for Greenwood, allowing two runs (both unearned) on three hits over five innings. He struck out nine and walked two. Cade Shrum also pitched two scoreless innings, striking out four.

Gabe Fennell drove in both Booneville runs, while Ian Suttles added two hits.

GREENWOOD 6, SHILOH CHRISTIAN 2

The Bulldogs took advantage of wildness by Saints’ pitchers to claim a nonconference win.

Trailing 2-0, Greenwood scored four runs in the bottom of the third — all on bases-loaded walks — to take a 4-2 advantage.

Jace Presley earned the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked one. Peyton Holt pitched a scoreless seventh.

Kellen Pate took the loss, allowing four runs over three innings despite giving up just one hit. He walked five and struck out three.

SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 7, MARION 3

A five-run second inning helped the Wildcats stay unbeaten.

Har-Ber trailed 1-0 before scoring five runs in the second inning, all with two outs. Two walks sandwiched a pair of singles before Kirby Jenkins unloaded a grand slam on an 0-1 pitch to give the Wildcats a 5-1 lead.

Hunter Wood had two hits for Har-Ber. Charlie Acuff earned the win, going five innings with eight strikeouts. Marion’s Jarrett Thomas took the loss.

SPRINGDALE HIGH 0-9, HOT SPRINGS LAKESIDE 1-6

The Bulldogs split a doubleheader on Friday, falling 1-0 in the opener, but bouncing back with a 9-6 win in the nightcap.

In the opener, two Lakeside pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter, and a Lakeside run in the first inning was all the scoring.

There was no shortage of runs in the second game as Lakeside took a 6-1 lead, but the Bulldogs rallied for 4 runs in the sixth and seventh innings for the win.

Brock Pounders was 2-for-4 and scored two runs in the lead-off hole for Springdale. Max Dosier, Will Mueller and Nick West all had doubles for the Bulldogs.

BENTONVILLE WEST 5, WHITE HALL 0

Carter Bourg and Aaron Arnold combined for a one-hitter Friday afternoon as West blanked White Hall in tournament play at Benton.

Bourg allowed the lone Bulldog hit over five innings of work and struck out six while walking two. Arnold added two hitless innings and picked up his lone strikeout to end the game.

West (2-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second as Dylan Carter singled and later scored on a wild pitch, then Luke Schonauer and Will Jarrett had back-toback RBI singles. The Wolverines then added solo tallies in the fourth and fifth innings.

SHERIDAN 6, BENTONVILLE WEST 0

West managed just three hits off Sheridan starter Haydn Finley and suffered its first loss of the season Thursday during a tournament at Benton.

The Wolverines (1-1) threatened to score in the sixth when they loaded the bases with nobody out, but they had a plate thrown out at the plate while trying to score on a wild pitch. The threat ended when the next two batters were thrown out.

Dylan Carter allowed just two hits over three innings but also walked six and allowed two runs to take the loss. Sheridan then pulled away with a fourrun fifth inning.

FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 7, ALMA 0

The Mavericks scored five runs in the fifth inning and two Southside pitchers combined to allow just one hit in a shutout win Friday.

Braiden Partin went six innings and allowed one hit with 13 strikeouts, and Matthew Schilling pitched a scoreless inning for the Mavericks.

Brock Burris was 2-for-4 to lead the Southside offense, and Partin added an RBI double.

PREP SOFTBALL FORT SMITH SOUTHSIDE 15, VAN ALSTYNE, TEXAS 0

A close game turned into a rout as the Mavericks scored 13 runs in the fourth inning.

Made Conklin, Ella Kohler and Mackenzie Farrar all had two RBIs each, and Hannah Hogue was 2-for-2 with a double.

Melia Hunter earned the win and struck out four in three innings.

FRIDAY’S RESULTS ROGERS HIGH 7, GRAVETTE 1

The Lady Mounties scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie and earn a nonconference win.

Madison Heinle pitched a complete game, allowing an earned run on four hits. She struck out 18 and also drove in a run in the big seventh inning.

Emma Kate Jackson led the Rogers offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Jordan Jeffery added a two-run single in the seventh.

Rogers (1-0) scored six runs off Gravette pitcher Cally Kildow, who missed all of last season with an injury. She pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Bailey Elmore, who allowed an unearned run on just one hit over 5 2/3 innings. Kildow drove in Gravette’s lone run with a single.

BENTONVILLE HIGH 15, VILONIA 0

Cailey Cochran fired a four-inning perfect game, and Morgan Nelson had a grand slam as Bentonville opened its season Friday with a victory over Vilonia at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

Cochran needed only 55 pitches and struck out nine of the 12 batters she faced. Morgan led off Bentonville’s 12run first with an RBI single and later added her grand slam, then ended the game with a two-run double.

Jenna Wildeman went 4-for-4 with three runs scored as the Lady Tigers belted out 17 hits. Hallie Robinson added three hits, and Megan Crownover had two.

BENTONVILLE WEST 10, GREENBRIER 5

Hallie Wacaser belted three home runs and six RBIs as West opened its season Friday with a win over Greenbrier at Wolverine Athletic Complex.

Greenbrier already had a 3-0 lead when Wacaser homered to lead off the bottom of the first, then Ryen Rassi belted a three-run shot to give the Lady Wolverines a 4-3 lead. Wacaser later capped West’s eight-run outburst with a three-run home run, then added a two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth.

Emma Wood overcame a shaky start to pitch a complete game and pick up the win. Honesty Holt was the only other Lady Wolverine with more than one hit.

PREP SOCCER GIRLS ROGERS HERITAGE 4, BERRYVILLE 1

Lanee Knight had a goal and three assists to lead the Lady War Eagles to the nonconference win.

Knight scored and then assisted on goals by Ruth Duran, Pam Seiler and Josie Stitt. Brooklyn Ligi earned the assist on Knight’s lone goal.

ROGERS HIGH 4, HARRISON 2

Jourdan Badely had a hat trick as the Lady Mounties defeated the Lady Goblins.

Leslie Barrales scored Rogers’ second goal as the Lady Mounties led 2-1 at halftime. Haley Arrick had two assists, while Grace Stahr and Hattie Hinkle added one assist each.
