■ Jason Cook, a fire battalion chief in Layton, Utah, said a 4-year-old boy wearing a sock on his arm reached under a fence to try to play with a neighbor’s husky dog, which bit off the boy’s hand and part of his forearm, sending the boy to a hospital where he’s recovering.

■ Jason Colton of Melbourne, Australia, who admitted during his murder trial that he choked an Airbnb guest to death in 2017 over an unpaid $149 bill, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the lesser charge of manslaught­er, prosecutor­s said.

■ Ashley Bemis, 29, of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., who pleaded guilty to posing as a firefighte­r’s wife to collect and keep for herself thousands of dollars in donations for firefighte­rs who battled a 2018 fire that burned in two counties, was sentenced to 177 days in jail.

■ Ayub Abdulrahma­n, 27, upset that his car was being held in a towing company’s impound lot in Orlando, Fla., was recorded on security video throwing a Molotov cocktail at his car, setting it on fire, resulting in his arrest on arson and other charges, police said.
