Crew’s rapid response earns words of praise

-

We are writing to say thank you to the members of Fayetteville’s water and sewer maintenance team, especially Christopher Adkisson, Bruce Nolan and Zach Merick.

Around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 18, we discovered the main waterline for our street had burst beneath my driveway. Water was gushing nearly 10 inches deep in front of our house and was spewing like a geyser from cracks in our driveway. Not only was it late at night on a weekend, but the weather was terrible. It was raining and the temperature was below freezing. The situation could not have been worse.

We called the emergency number listed on the city website and spoke with the police officer, who took the information. We are happy to report the work crew showed up to our house by 2 a.m. Saturday and started sawing into our concrete driveway in an attempt to repair the burst pipe as soon as possible.

It took them all night to fix the problem, but they stuck with it and finished by 9:30 a.m. Although the guys were cold to the bone and dead tired from working all night, they were still polite when we came out to check on their progress. The maintenance team is very professional.

Our highest compliments and appreciation to Christopher Adkisson, Bruce Nolan and Zach Merick. They did an excellent job under miserable conditions.

We live in a great city.
