Ellen Deckard, 87, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Friday, March 1, 2019, at Crestview Court Nursing Home in Cedar Hill, Texas. She was born June 11, 1931, at Bentonvill­e, Ark.

She was raised by her father, Noble B. Jones and May in Bentonvill­e and her mother, Velma E. Dale and Glenn in Herington, Kan. She attended schools in Bentonvill­e and Herington and graduated from Herington High School in 1950.

Mary married Doyle Deckard in 1951 (divorced in 1977) and had two children, Kris and Roger. She worked in many areas over her lifetime; retail, candidate for school board, bookkeeper, apartment manager and anything else she put her mind to do. She retired from apartment management in Houston, Texas, in 1997 and moved to Bella Vista, Ark.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, stepparent­s, son, Roger Deckard, sonin-law, Mike Denlinger, and brothers, Bobby Dale and Glenn Dale. She is survived by daughter, Kris Denlinger of Cedar Hill, Texas; seven grandchild­ren, Valorie Kleinberg and husband Jon of Eaton, Ohio, Scott, Whitney and Tina Denlinger, of Cedar Hill, Texas, Dustin and Kathy Deckard of Wichita, Kan., Paul Deckard of Falmouth, Ky.; two great grandchild­ren, Karley and Luke Kleinberg of Eaton, Ohio; sister Ruth and husband Jerry Cozad of Bella Vista, Ark., as well as many nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed many crafts, handwork (especially sewing), and has given many handmade gifts to those for whom she cared. Mary made an impact with those she came in contact and will be missed by many.

BELLA VISTA — Robert

Ivan Miskimen, aged 93 died at home in Bella Vista, Ark., on March 10, 2019, the second son of Elmo and Lena nee Panwitz, Miskimen. He grew up near Alliance, Neb., schooled in a rural school, graduating from Alliance High School in 1943 with a State Farmer Award in the Future Farmers of America and was a member of the Honor Society.

Robert attended the Concordia Theologica­l Seminary graduating in 1952. He married Lois Magdalena Hoffmeyer in 1951. The couple has nine children and 21 grandchild­ren. Lois preceded him in death in April of 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Fae Miskimen, Bella Vista, Ark.; (Charles) and Victoria Maaske, Horicon, Wis., (Dennis) and Carolyn Sayles, Oak Harbor, Wash., (Richard) and Elizabeth Jackson, Oak Creek, Wis., Grace Miskimen, Ridgecrest, Calif., Robert and (Adonna) Miskimen, Avon, Ind., (Weldon) and Christine Kunzemen, Juneau, Wis., (Rev. James) and Eunice Harris,

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Infant Carl and Louis (Patty) Miskimen. Grandchild­ren surviving him are James, Daniel and Peter Maaske, Rachael and Dr. Griffith Sayles, Richard, Wade and Dr. Heather Jackson, Dr. Robert Miskimen III, Simon, Jeremiah, Noah and Susanna Miskimen, Victoria Schweitzer, Katryna Roush, Timothy and Joshua Harris, Abbey, Tessa and Nickolas Miskimen. There are seven great-grandchild­ren surviving. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lois Magdalene nee Hoffmeyer, April 14, 2005.

Celebratio­n of life services will be held Friday, March 15, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Bella Vista Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, Ark. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time at the church. The family will receive friends at this time. Interment will be in the Alliance (Neb.) Cemetery by his wife, Lois of 53 years, 7 months and 27 days. “Lord now let Your servant depart in peace.”

BENTONVILL­E — Geneva Monteen Venable

(Stark) Lash of the Morning Star Community in Bentonvill­e passed away on March 10, 2019. She was born on Jan. 12, 1931, in Moreland, Ark., to the late Ed Venable and Vestle Roach.

Geneva will be remembered as a strong woman who was proud of her family. Her abiding faith in her Lord helped her navigate life’s highs and lows. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cave Springs.

Her survivors include her children, Iris (Stark) Wilson, Rodney Stark; grandchild­ren Monica, Danny, and John Dees; five great-grandchild­ren; brothers Carl and Marvin Venable; and sister Anita Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, oldest son Melvin Stark, first husband Joe Stark and last husband Bill Lash.

Visitation will from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Benton County Memorial Park. FARMINGTON — Thomas M.

Drummond Sr., 90, a resident of Farmington, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, in Fayettevil­le. He was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Uniontown, Ala., the son of William and Doshey (Lolly) Drummond.

Tom’s love of life was playing pool and having lunch with his many friends at the Fayettevil­le Senior Center. Tom also enjoyed his friends at Peachtree Village in Farmington.

He was preceded in death by his wife Reba and son Tom Drummond Jr.

Survivors include his two daughters, Jeanette Elliott, and Alice McConlogue and husband Larry; son Jerry Drummond; Tom’s long time companion Donna Baker; 14 grandchild­ren and 13 great grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild­ren.

FAYETTEVIL­LE —

George Lamar Cole, 87, passed away March 10, 2019. He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in West Helena, Ark., to Lamar and Anna Cole.

Lamar was a graduate of Helena-West Helena Central High School. He earned his bachelor of music education from Arkansas State College and his master’s in administra­tion from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.

Lamar served the 74th Army Band during the Korean War. He was the Wynne High School Band director and principal for 15 years. Lamar retired after 26 years with the Arkansas Activities Associatio­n, for 13 years as the executive director.

Lamar served on over 30 civic and religious affiliatio­ns throughout his life. Most recently the Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging, Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary, CEO Food Pantry, and the Fayettevil­le Public Library’s Reading Road Show. Lamar was a member of St. Joe’s Catholic Church and the former Fayettevil­le Town Club.

Lamar and his wife, Dot shared 65 years of marriage. They have two daughters, Cara Cochran (Danny), Kim Autry (Ron); four grandsons, Josh Clinton (Abby), Adam Crosson (Allison), Garland Autry (Sarah), Garrett Autry (Alex); seven great grandchild­ren; special relative Jean Harvey, Don Baier, many dear friends and former students, and Buddy, the squirrel.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the community of friends at Brookstone Assisted Living, the compassion­ate medical staff at WRMC and Willard Walker Hospice. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am Friday, March 15, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayettevil­le.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Ray

H. Mills, age 100, of Fayettevil­le passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, in Fayettevil­le. He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Brentwood, Ark., the son of Clifford and Cora DeVore Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pauline Dockery Mills, six brothers, two sisters, five stepbrothe­rs and two stepsister­s.

He served in the Army during World War II earning the Combat Medic Badge and the Bronze Star among other service ribbons and citations. He worked as a pharmacy technician for the VA and was a member of Baldwin Church of Christ. He loved to hunt, fish and garden in his spare time.

He is survived by his four sons, Jack Mills and his wife Pamela, Bill Mills and his wife Brenda, Ronnie Mills and his wife Sharla and John Mills, all of Fayettevil­le; one stepbrothe­r, Bob Adams of Winslow; 10 grandchild­ren, Melisa DeLoach, Matt Mills, Meredith Bramlett, Lisa Bryant, Lori Mills, Beau Mills, Lacie Mills, Steve Lewis, Lindsay Sherry and Rachael Sherry; 25 great-grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — Fern

Elizabeth Nance made her transition on March 5, 2019, at the Willard Walker Hospice Center in Fayettevil­le, Ark., at the age of 85. Born in Welch, La., in 1933 to Robert and Gertrude Trent as one of eight children, Fern moved to Chicago as a young girl and lived there for many years before moving to Fayettevil­le in 2003.

She met and married her husband Eual Dean Nance in Chicago in 1956.

Fern was a deeply spiritual woman who lived a faith-filled life and enrolled in courses to deepen her understand­ing of scripture and theology. An avid reader who filled her home with light and greenery, Fern had a zest for life and an adventurou­s spirit. She had a quick wit and ready laugh. She loved to travel and was open to and enjoyed new experience­s. She was an advocate for children and deeply believed in the value of education.

Fern was a community activist, Sunday school teacher, Eastern Star and PTA member while living in Chicago. She taught her children nothing was out of reach for them and she exposed them to the breadth of what life had to offer. Her house was where the neighborho­od children would come to gather. When she moved to Fayettevil­le, she continued to engage with young people on the University of Arkansas campus.

In Chicago, Fern was a member of Windsor Park and Immanuel Lutheran churches, and Christ Universal Temple. Her spiritual home in Fayettevil­le was Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, participat­ed in the Love Bears Ministry and later served in the prayer ministry. Her vocation was an administra­tive profession­al. She worked for Saks Realty, University of Chicago, CNA and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

Fern is survived by two brothers, London and Claude Trent, her four children Cynthia, Kevin, Phillip and Elliot Nance; seven grandchild­ren Kristopher, Phyleisha, Miles and Fiona Nance, Kelly Joseph, Kendall Rapier, Amanda Ellison; and five great-grandchild­ren Jordan and Ava Ellison and Xavier, Roman and Julian Rapier.

Family and friends will hold a celebratio­n of Fern’s life at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayettevil­le on May 5, 2019, at 1 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to the Eual Dean and Fern Nance endowed scholarshi­p at the University of Arkansas School of Law. Edward Lane Stevens, 71, of Fayettevil­le died Sunday, March 10, 2019. Survivors: wife, Perla Stevens, five sons, daughter, brother, sister, and seven grandchild­ren. PEA RIDGE — Leon

Sorrell, 83, of Pea Ridge died Tuesday, March 12 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Dec. 30, 1935, at Elmstore, Ark., to Audie Lee Sorrell and Tola Anna Chester Sorrell.

He moved to Pea Ridge from Indiana in July 1980 to make his home. He enjoyed cattle and goat sales and being outdoors. He attended the Church of God and was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jo Ann Sorrell; two granddaugh­ters, Angela Denise Sorrell and Jennifer Sorrell; two sisters, Eva Lou Gains and Rebecca Shaffer; three brothers, Audie Sorrell Jr., Benny Lee Sorrell, and Sammy Sorrell.

Survivors are five sons, Darrell Sorrell (Donna) of Modoc, Ind., Randy Sorrell (Tammy) and Ben Sorrell (Jeanne) of Galena, Mo., Kern Sorrell (Sherri) of Neosho, Mo., Rusty Sorrell (Melody) of Pea Ridge; two daughters, Donna Whitted (Erbie) of Pea Ridge and Julia Ferguson (Steven) of Garfield; two brothers, Tommy Sorrell of Guthrie, Okla., and Paul Sorrell of Republic, Mo.; 26 grandchild­ren and 22 great-grandchild­ren.

Howard, 84, of Rogers, Ark., passed away surrounded by his family March 11, 2019, in Bentonvill­e. He was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Decatur, Ill., the son of Homer Paul and Cleta Ruth Thompson Howard.

James served in the Marine Corps, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rogers, he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Free Masons, and Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rhonda Gayle Howard, and brother, Homer Paul Howard. He is survived by his wife, Lois Marie Fooshee Howard; four children, Wayne Eugene Howard of Winfield, Kan., Deborah Gruber of Tampa, Fla., Connie Elliott of Yulee, Fla., and Kathy Clark of Rogers; many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

ROGERS — Rachel Thu-Thao Nguyen, 21, of Rogers passed away Monday, March 11, 2019. She was born Oct. 20, 1997, in Fayettevil­le to Thanh Van Nguyen and Gillian Nhat Tran of Rogers, who survive.

Other survivors include her brother, Tim Nguyen of Rogers; a very large extended family and dear friends. She was preceded by a grandmothe­r, Hien Do of Fort Smith.

Miss Nguyen dealt with health challenges her entire life, but with grace and perseveran­ce, she lived life to the fullest. Rachel loved being with family and friends. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Golden State Warriors, the Chicago Cubs and was a passionate Razorback fan. She was an absolute “Ffoodie,” both enjoying the preparatio­n of a wonderful meal and as an adventures­ome eater.

Memories for life were created when her Make A Wish came true and she flew to California to meet and share experience­s with Celebrity Chef and author, Ayesha Curry. Rachel was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and their Life Teen program.

Thursday, March 14, a Rosary service will begin at 4 p.m. followed by visitation from 5:30-7 p.m. On Friday, a Rosary service will begin at 5 p.m. followed by visitation from 6-7 p.m. all in the chapel of Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers with interment to follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. ROGERS — Kathleen J. Phillips, 83, of Rogers passed away March 11, 2019, in Rogers. She was born Jan. 22, 1936, in Butler, Pa., the daughter of Charles Roy Campbell and Tereasa Fundarik. She worked as a hairstylis­t and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers.

She is preceded in death by her husband James (Lloyd) Phillips. She is survived by her children, James Keith Phillips, Jeffery Lee Phillips, Colleen L. Simrell; siblings Chuck Campbell, Patty Kelley and Dick Campbell; six grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren.

SPRINGDALE — Martha Jane Alderson, 79, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with the Lord March 12, 2019. She was born June 03, 1939, in Johnson County, Ark., the daughter of the late Irvin and Myrtle Warren Williams.

Jane loved seashells and was known as the seashell lady. She was a devoted Christian, homemaker, loving daughter, mother and grandmothe­r. She loved to cook, garden, beachcomb and make shell crafts. May her soul forever be at peace in her Father’s house.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Troy Alderson, oldest son Wayne Artripe, brother Floyd Williams and infant sister Dollie Williams.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Artripe of Springdale, Ark.; daughter Shannon McDonald of Springdale, Ark.; son-in-law Mark McDonald of Rogers, Ark.; brother Lonnie Williams of Springdale, Ark.; grandchild­ren Tara Krile, Karye Birdsong, Aaron Artripe, Cory McDonald, Declan McDonald and five great-grandchild­ren.

SPRINGDALE — Lynda Susan (Pearce) Davis, 66, of Springdale, died March 2, 2019, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born Dec. 26, 1952, in Bentonvill­e to Fred A. and Olive Mae (Holland)) Pearce.

Lynda graduated with honors from Springdale Public High School. She was a proud member of the Bulldog Marching Band. She attended the University of Arkansas, where she thrived in mathematic­s and foreign language.

Lynda loved life and enjoyed traveling. Upon returning to NWA after her marriage to Jefferson Davis, and the birth of her loving daughter, Rachael Marie, she became a stay-at-home mother and frequent substitute teacher.

After the sudden death of her husband, Lynda enjoyed spending time with her parents and her daughter Rachael. Her greatest joy was being “Nanna” to grandson Damien.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband Jefferson and parents Fred and Mae Pearce. She is survived by her daughter, Rachael Marie Long and grandson Damien; brother Michael and wife Denise Pearce; niece and nephew Megan and Eric Pearce.

SPRINGDALE — Glynn Elaine Brock Nations a resident of Springdale, passed away at 67 on Thursday March 7, 2019. She was born on Thursday, May 24, 1951, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., and grew up in Lincoln, Ark., on a farm on the outskirts of town.

She loved to cook for friends and family and laugh. Glynn was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Ark. She retired from Claims Management Inc. in Rogers, Ark., where she was a senior claims adjustor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane Cavett Brock and Aubrey “Pat” Brock. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Nations Howard of Rogers, Ark.; two grandchild­ren, Jon Howard of Bentonvill­e, Ark., and Kyra Howard of Bella Vista, Ark.; three sisters, Gaynelle Piciullo of Phoenix, Ariz., Peggy Curtis and husband Doye Lee of Lincoln, Ark., and Patricia Sparks of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Preston Brock of Lincoln, Ark.; an aunt, Clara May Cuzick of Lincoln, Ark.; and nieces, nephews, and many other extended friends and family.

SPRINGDALE — Margaret A. “Peggy” Pruden, 82, of Springdale, passed away March 10, 2019. Beloved wife of Jim Pruden, Peggy was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Charles Nortrup and Sara Plouse Nortrup.

Peggy was a nurse and real estate broker for many years. She enjoyed spending holidays and weekends at the family cabins. She loved to research on her laptop and spent countless days studying the bible. She attended First United Methodist Church of Springdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughterin-law Jayne Pruden.

SPRINGDALE — Patrick Walter Robertson, 71, of Springdale passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Westwood Health and Rehabilita­tion. He was born Dec. 30, 1947, in Denver, Colo., to Harry (Lynn) and Ethel Kersen Robertson.

Pat worked for Northwest Medical Center. Pat spent many, many hours as a volunteer for the hospital. He wrote the monthly news letter and worked at Guest Housing. He loved his time as a volunteer and enjoyed working with his fellow volunteers and attending their special events!

Prior to relocating to Springdale, Pat was in the Marine Corps for seven years. He was assigned to Specialize­d Training Classes in which he excelled. This made him an asset to the Marines and in civilian life! His last duty station was in Casper, Wyo., where he was a recruiter. He recruited many fine young men and women into the Corps. After leaving the Marines, he worked a number of years for Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. He loved motorcycle­s, hunting, fishing, wood working, and telling jokes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bernard Robertson. Survivors include his longtime love and companion, Lois Short of Springdale; two sons, Patrick Robertson and wife Dani of Michigan and Skeeter Robertson and wife Michelle of Wyoming; four daughters, Tammy Ping of Iowa, Theresa Cromer and husband David of Iowa, Michele Ward and husband Tim of Michigan and Shea Durossette and husband Eddie of Kansas; sister Lynnette (Lynn) Barlow and husband Bill of Wyoming and numerous grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

SUMMERS — Troy “Bud” Rhine, 88, of Summers, Ark., died March 11, 2019, at Willard Walker Hospice, Fayettevil­le, Ark. Born Oct. 16, 1930, at Lake Wedington, Ark., he was the son of Robert Rhine and Arizona Pike Rhine.

Bud married Lou Ella Spears in 1954 and he was a farmer and shop foreman for the City of Fayettevil­le.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Troy Daniel Rhine and brother Hubert Rhine.

Survivors include his wife, Lou Ella of the home; sisters Opal Schlesinge­r of Anchorage, Alaska, Geraldine Broyles of Springdale, Ark., Sharon McFarrin of Springdale, Ark.; Helen Fisher of Springdale, Ark., Bernice Hutchens of Greenland, Ark., and Myrna Coyle of Prairie Grove, Ark.; brothers Kenneth Beeks of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Gene Beeks of Farmington, Ark.; a host of other family members and many that they called grandchild­ren.

WEST FORK — George Thomas Blankenshi­p Jr., age 58, of West Fork, died March 2, 2019. He was born Oct. 8, 1960, in Columbus, Ga., the son of George Thomas Blankenshi­p Sr. and Grace Ann Keogh Blankenshi­p. He was a truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Reba Blankenshi­p; a daughter, Tayler Blankenshi­p of West Fork; his parents, George Thomas Blankenshi­p Sr. and Grace Ann Blankenshi­p; a brother, Michael A. Blankenshi­p of Elkins; a stepson, Matt Slinkard and his wife Heidi of Washburn, Mo.; three grandsons, Beau Aiden Spurlock, Camden Slinkard and Kaiser Slinkard and a nephew, Michael Cole Blankenshi­p.
