■ William Patrick Williams, 19, of Lubbock, Texas, who was released from a hospital after his grandmothe­r persuaded him to seek help when he told her that he had bought an AK-47 and planned to “shoot up” a local hotel, was arrested on charges that he had given the gun dealer an outdated address.

■ Marvin Foster of New Albany, Miss., said he and his family were able to escape their burning home after the family dog, Dudley, alerted him about a fire in the kitchen, adding that Dudley became trapped in the bathroom but was rescued by firefighte­rs.

■ Buff Leavy, executive editor and president of The Brunswick News in Georgia, received a handmade flag that was stolen more than 40 years ago from Jekyll Island, along with a note explaining that it had been swiped by Georgia Tech fraternity pledges in 1975.

■ Pam Frana, a membership specialist for the Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce Department, blames recent flooding along the Missouri River for stirring up swarms of mayflies that have covered windshield­s, blocking drivers from being able to see where they’re going.

■ Brett Alan Mull, 48, a former sheriff’s lieutenant and narcotics supervisor in Mayes County, Okla., who took meth from evidence envelopes before they were booked into the agency’s property room and used the drug up to twice per day, was sentenced to six months in prison.

■ Isaiah Thompson, 23, who was previously arrested after authoritie­s said he caused dozens of New York City subway delays by pulling emergency brakes, has been arrested on accusation­s that he was again “surfing” on the outside of a train in Manhattan.

■ Eric McDermott, 30, discovered a bottled message in Santa Rosa, Calif., that had traveled for 13 years across the Pacific Ocean after Brian Bricker, then-wife Alicia and their three children tossed the bottle into the ocean while they were on vacation in Hawaii in 2006.

■ Dallas Frazier, 29, of Georgetown, Ky., was arrested outside a rally for President Donald Trump in Cincinnati after, police said, he jumped out of his vehicle near a group of protesters and began punching a 61-year-old demonstrat­or in the face.

■ Robert Dale Barkman, 66, of Atlanta, Texas, a middle school teacher and church youth leader, was arrested on 15 counts related to child pornograph­y after suspicious images were found, including some on his church computer, prosecutor­s said.
