Computer Club
The next Bella Vista Computer Club general meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 12. The presentation “An Introduction to Viber” will be presented by Joel Ewing, club president. Viber is a free, multi-platform communication application that supports free and secure messaging, phone, and video-phone communication over the Internet to other Viber users. It is functionally similar to Skype and WhatsApp, and is supported on Apple platforms (iPhone, iPad, Mac), Androids, MS Windows, and Linux.
Club meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are held in Room 1001 on the lower level of The Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. Different handouts giving general information and computer tips are available at each monthly meeting. Benefits of club membership include free classes on computer topics selected by the club, free remote online support at other times, and free help for any computerized device at twice-monthly Open House Help Clinic Sessions. Advance sign up is required to attend classes.
Open House Help Clinic Sessions are held from 9 a.m. to noon the first Saturday and the third Wednesday of each month in the Training Center at the Highlands Crossings Center, Suite 208. The next Help Clinic will be Aug. 21.
The currently scheduled class for August is ”Computer Security for Regular People: Part 1” presented by Justin Sell, owner of Bella Vista Computer Services from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.
BVCC also has a Genealogy Special Interest Group that will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.
