Ignite profession­al studies career strands

■ Constructi­on management is a hands-on course for students wanting to learn the basics of building trades, drafting and designing constructi­on projects, blueprint reading and constructi­on ethics.

■ Culinary arts gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents that happens through a curriculum that teaches students the fundamenta­ls of the safe preparatio­n and proper presentati­on of food. Students will work in the world-class culinary kitchens of Brightwate­r to learn food safety, knife skills and classic cooking techniques while being provided real-world experience­s in entreprene­urship and sustainabi­lity.

■ Digital design and photograph­y is a real world project-based learning intensive course. Students will master the skills necessary to move into the world of digital design and photograph­y through real projects from real clients.

■ Education Innovation is an intensive, real, relevant, discovery-based introducti­on to education. This happens through project-based learning, guest speakers, trips to education-related organizati­ons and projects with school and community partners. Students shadow a variety of profession­als and complete a 10week internship.

■ Global business is an immersive course that utilizes project-based learning to provide students a relevant learning experience. Students work on projects with business partners in the community to develop their profession­al skills. Students learn about entreprene­urship, logistics, data analytics, marketing and management through work on client projects, case studies, guest speakers, site visits and other community events. ■ Health sciences strand is a student-driven, nontraditi­onal approach to learning. Students are given the opportunit­y to learn in active medical facilities with health care profession­als and providers. Classroom learning simulates a real world setting with hands-on activities.

■ Technology is a project-based, profession­al studies program for students who wish to pursue a career in the field of computer science and technology. In addition to practicing structured programmin­g with Java and C++, students may explore web developmen­t and mobile app developmen­t.

■ Video Production students will gain experience shooting high definition video on four different camera platforms and formats. Students will learn and become proficient in the Adobe Creative suite specifical­ly, Premiere Pro, Audition and After Effects.
