Ignite professional studies career strands
■ Construction management is a hands-on course for students wanting to learn the basics of building trades, drafting and designing construction projects, blueprint reading and construction ethics.
■ Culinary arts gives students a platform to discover new interests and talents that happens through a curriculum that teaches students the fundamentals of the safe preparation and proper presentation of food. Students will work in the world-class culinary kitchens of Brightwater to learn food safety, knife skills and classic cooking techniques while being provided real-world experiences in entrepreneurship and sustainability.
■ Digital design and photography is a real world project-based learning intensive course. Students will master the skills necessary to move into the world of digital design and photography through real projects from real clients.
■ Education Innovation is an intensive, real, relevant, discovery-based introduction to education. This happens through project-based learning, guest speakers, trips to education-related organizations and projects with school and community partners. Students shadow a variety of professionals and complete a 10week internship.
■ Global business is an immersive course that utilizes project-based learning to provide students a relevant learning experience. Students work on projects with business partners in the community to develop their professional skills. Students learn about entrepreneurship, logistics, data analytics, marketing and management through work on client projects, case studies, guest speakers, site visits and other community events. ■ Health sciences strand is a student-driven, nontraditional approach to learning. Students are given the opportunity to learn in active medical facilities with health care professionals and providers. Classroom learning simulates a real world setting with hands-on activities.
■ Technology is a project-based, professional studies program for students who wish to pursue a career in the field of computer science and technology. In addition to practicing structured programming with Java and C++, students may explore web development and mobile app development.
■ Video Production students will gain experience shooting high definition video on four different camera platforms and formats. Students will learn and become proficient in the Adobe Creative suite specifically, Premiere Pro, Audition and After Effects.
