THE NUMBERS Finished last season as the Wolverines’ No. 3 tackler with 117 total (67 solos, 50 assists) and earned all-conference honors. … Had double-digit tackles in seven of 12 games, including 13 in the season finale against Bentonville and 22 and 12 in West’s playoff games against Conway and North Little Rock, respectively. … Had five tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks, two of them coming against eventual state champion Bryant. … Will be asked to do more offensively this season after seeing limited action last season. He had six carries for 21 yards and a touchdown in the season opener against Owasso, Okla., then had a touchdown pass reception against Bentonville. … Has received an offer from Air Force, as well as NCAA Division II schools East Central, Northeastern State and Southwest Oklahoma State. … Also a member of the Wolverines’ basketball team.

HE SAID IT “I’m just trying to have a really good season, help my team go as far as it can go and have a blast doing it. I think my role, personally, will be that of a defensive leader. We lost maybe half of our defensive starters from last year. We have a new defensive line with some players moving in, and they really need a leader to understand what they need to do. One of the things coaches have liked about me, especially our head coach Bryan Pratt, is that I can play anywhere on the field, and that’s what makes me so useful to him. I’ll do whatever I can for him and whatever is best for the team.”
