Nats split double-header

SPRINGDALE — Brady Singer tossed a six-hit complete game and Khalil Lee hit a two-run home run and had three hits, driving in four, as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals topped the Frisco RoughRider­s 7-1 in the first game of a doublehead­er on Saturday.

Singer (7-3) picked up the win after he struck out six and walked one while allowing one run.

Down 1-0, the Naturals took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning. Jordan George and Angelo Castellano hit RBI singles en route to the one-run lead.

The Naturals later added three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth. In the fourth, Lee hit a two-run home run and Blake Perkins hit a solo home run, while Lee hit a two-run single in the fifth.

Ronald Herrera (2-6) went 32/3 innings, allowing five runs and 10 hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out seven and walked one.

For the RoughRider­s, Ryan Dorow doubled and singled.

In the second game, Juremi Profar had three hits and scored two runs, and Emerson Martinez allowed just one hit over five innings as the RoughRider­s topped the Naturals 9-0.

Frisco scored four runs in the first, including an out that scored Charles Leblanc. The RoughRider­s scored again in the third inning, when they put up five runs, including a two-run triple by Ryan Dorow.

Emilio Ogando (1-3) went two innings, allowing six runs and five hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out two and walked three.

The Naturals were held scoreless for the 15th time this season, while the RoughRider­s’ staff recorded their ninth shutout of the year.

ARKANSAS 9, AMARILLO 7

AMARILLO, Texas — Mike Ahmed homered and had two hits, driving in two as the Arkansas Travelers topped the Amarillo Sod Poodles 9-7 on Saturday.

Amarillo cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second after Hudson Potts hit a solo home run.

The Travelers added to their lead in the fourth inning when Ahmed hit a solo home run.

The Travelers later tacked on six runs in the fifth, including a two-run double by Donnie Walton.

Amarillo saw its comeback attempt come up short after Ivan Castillo hit a two-run double in the ninth inning to help cut the Arkansas lead to 9-7.

Arkansas right-hander Justin Dunn (9-5) picked up the win after allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Ronald Bolanos (8- 5) took the loss in the Texas League game after allowing one run and two hits over one inning.

For the Sod Poodles, Potts homered and singled, scoring two runs.

MIDLAND 4, SPRINGFIEL­D 3

SPRINGFIEL­D, Mo. — Greg Deichmann hit a three-run home run in the second inning, leading the Midland RockHounds to a 4-3 win over the Springfiel­d Cardinals on Saturday.

The home run by Deichmann scored Taylor Motter and Tyler Ramirez to give the RockHounds a 3-0 lead.

After Springfiel­d scored a run in the second on a home run by Chris Chinea, the Cardinals tied the game in the fourth inning when Chinea hit an RBI double and Juan Yepez hit a sacrifice fly.

The RockHounds took the lead for good in the eighth when Jonah Heim scored when a runner was thrown out.
