ARKANSAS vs. OLE MISS: HOW WE SEE IT

-

CLAY HENRY, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED: This is one of the most important games of the year for both since neither is projected to finish high in the SEC West standings. Neither had much “flow” on offense in the first week. It will help to get Cheyenne O’Grady back in the passing game. Last week’s score was a downer for the Hogs, but the same numbers this week would be viewed much more favorably. Arkansas, 20-13.

DUDLEY E. DAWSON, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED: Neither team really did much to move the needle and get their fans excited. But something exciting always seems to happen when the Razorbacks visit Oxford. Ole Miss 17-14.

MATT JONES, WHOLE HOG SPORTS: Memphis has consistently played well vs. Power Five teams, so Ole Miss’ season-opening loss there might have been a better performance than Arkansas’ close victory over an FCS opponent. The Rebels should have an edge at home. Ole Miss 27-16.

SCOTTIE BORDELON, WHOLE HOG SPORTS: Neither team lit it up offensively in Week 1, but I envision a bit of a back-and-forth game. Arkansas and Ole Miss always make things interesting when they get together. The Rebels make key plays late and beat the Razorbacks. Ole Miss 34-24.

SETH CAMPBELL, WHOLE HOG SPORTS: Arkansas keeps the ball on the ground with Boyd as he rushes for another 100 yards. Ben Hicks connects with Trey Knox as we see both notch their first touchdowns as Razorbacks. The defense keeps Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral off balance just enough to give Morris his first SEC victory. Arkansas 24-21.

TOMMY CRAFT, THE MORNING RUSH: The old adage is “you improve the most between game one and two.” Both Arkansas and Ole Miss are sure banking on it after disappointing opening performances. Arkansas 20-13.

BART POHLMAN, THE HOG POD: It’s a battle of two teams who underwhelmed in Week 1; Ole Miss losing at Memphis and Arkansas surviving Portland State. You have to assume the Hogs held something back vs. PSU, but the Rebels will be angry and at home. That’s the difference. Ole Miss 24-20.

JOHN NABORS, THE MORNING RUSH: Hogs look a little better offensively against a Rebel team that’s coming off a brutal showing against Memphis. Arkansas defense takes advantage of a few Ole Miss turnovers and Chad Morris gets his first SEC victory. Arkansas 24-20.

HARRY KING, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED: Maybe all of the positive words out of camp influenced the pick, or the fact that the Rebels have new coordinators. There is always transition time needed with that much change. The Arkansas offensive line is the key. Arkansas 24-23.

CHIP SOUZA, NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE: Did Arkansas hold back against Portland State, or is the offense really that vanilla? You’d hope it’s the former, but so many missed or poorly thrown passes, drops and mediocre play on the offensive line are indications that this offense is still very much a work in progress. Ole Miss 27-17.
