He’s best-known to millions for his deadpan movie work as Gomez Addams in “The Addams Family” and its sequel “Addams Family Values,” but Broadway playgoers knew Raul Julia as a rising superstar of the American theater. This new half-hour docu-series — which premieres tonight with two backto-back episodes — presents intimate, surprisingly candid portraits of athletes, told in their own words and experienced from their perspective during the 72-hour period immediately before, during and after a landmark event in their careers. The opener focuses on supercross star James Stewart as he prepares to make his comeback after being banned from competition for 16 months.
8 p.m. on = Reef Break
Much like its main character, Cat Chambers (Poppy Montgomery), this engaging summer action drama from Down Under deserves points for audacity. ABC still hasn’t announced whether a Season 2 is in the cards, but that hasn’t stopped the cast and producers from delivering a cliffhanger of a Season 1 finale, “Endgame.” The story finds Cat on the run and fearing for her life. Expect hearts to be broken and multiple fates to hang in the balance.
