ROGERS — Rogers’ House District 90 now has two challengers running against incumbent Rep. Jana Della Rosa, R-Rogers, in the Republican primary.

Chris Latimer, 38, is a pastor at Keypoint Church who has lived in the Northwest Arkansas region for 11 years, according to his announcement. Originally from Cabot, he said in his announcement he would be a stronger advocate for Chris- tian conservative values.

“I strongly believe that together, we can be the voice for the unborn, the catalyst for limited government, the driving force for lower taxes, and defenders of our constitutional rights, such as the 2nd amendment,” Latimer’s announcement said. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects the right to bear arms.

Challenger Kendon Underwood of Cave Springs came within three votes of defeating Della Rosa in the 2018 primary, when they were the only two candidates. Della Rosa is serving her second term in the House. She confirmed Monday she will seek a third term.

District 90 extends from New Hope Road in Rogers on the north to Bethel Heights in the south. It runs from Old Wire Road on the east through Springdale and Elm Springs to the west, reaching the city limits of Highfill. As of Monday no Democrat has announced for the seat. Della Rosa defeated a Democratic challenger in 2018 with 66% of the vote.

Candidate filing for partisan offices begins at noon Nov. 4 and ends at noon Nov. 12. Party primaries are March 3. The general election is Nov. 3, 2020. State House members serve two-year terms and have an annual salary of $39,400.
