ROGERS — William Jasper (Dub & W.J.) Ellington,

95, passed away Sept. 23, 2019. He was born Sept. 23, 1924, at home in Mount Ida, Ark.. He resided at Jamestown Nursing and Rehab and was under the care of Circle of Life Hospice. W.J. was the son of William Jasper Ellington, Sr. and Martha Vena Horn Ellington.

W.J. was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as an airplane mechanic. He repaired numerous aircraft including

the “Hellcat”. Dub was known for his fishing skills including his secret recipe for “W.J.’s Catfish Bait.” He was a checker player that was considered “unbeatable.” W.J. was also a well-known squirrel hunter with his dog, Tip.

He was avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan enjoying all the games. He enjoyed numerous friends and family where people often commented on his kindness and sweet personalit­y. W.J. was a Christian and attended the Caddo Gap Baptist Church when he lived in the area. His favorite Bible verses were Matthew 5:13-14 and 1 Corinthian­s 15:58.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alfred Ellington; and a sister, Dorothy Jane Tweedle.

W.J. is survived by sons, Ron Ellington and wife, Suzanne of Rogers, Ark., and Donnie Ellington and wife, Stephanie of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchild­ren, Rick Ellington (Heather), Laura Jeffcoat (Mikey), Alicia Brooks, Mark Ellington, Natalie Ellington, Megan Ellington (Bryce) and Angela Rusher (Lester); eight great-grandchild­ren, Chase Jeffcoat, Kerstin Hobbs, Jasper Jeffcoat (his namesake), Matthew, Eli and Maggie Brooks, Chloe and Adele McClain; and one great-great granddaugh­ter, Rori Jeffcoat.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, at Oak Grove Cemetery near Glenwood, Ark., with military honors.
