Protect our freedoms

-

I believe it is time for Congress to take a stand and get Donald Trump out of the White House. It is more than clear to me, based on evidence and his own comments, that he has broken the law.

He does not respect the rule of law. As a matter of fact, he apparently thinks he is above the law.

What side of the law and history do our members of Congress plan to be on? Will they protect the U.S. Constitution, our freedoms, and our democracy?

To be honest, I am scared that Donald Trump is occupying the Oval Office. I don’t want to be scared anymore.

Are our leaders going to protect my freedoms and liberty? I hope so. ASHLEY BLAKE ROGERS

Fayetteville threat to the integrity of our elections.

Trump apparently can’t see that he undermines democracy when he leverages the unique power of his position in the world to gain dirt on an opponent from an ally dependent on military aid from the U.S. His self-serving request sounded alarm bells for some in Washington for good reason.

This kind of behavior must never become the norm for the presidency—or our political process, which is imperiled enough as it is. If allowed, such corrupt behavior compromises our relationships in the world, infects moral standards globally, and may lead to situations in which our national security is put at risk.

It is the duty of all of us and our elected officials in Washington to stand together against such dangerous behavior, regardless of political affiliation.
