AVOCA — Jeffrey

Andrew Wever, 53 of Avoca, Ark., passed away Sept. 24, 2019, in Bentonvill­e. He was born July 24, 1966, in Hayward, Calif., the son of Don and Ann Lane Wever.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Justin Barney.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jean Arasmith Wever of the home; sons David Arasmith and wife Krista, Richard Luzzi and wife Ashley, Nathan Wever and Tiffany, Tyler Wever and wife Jessica; brother Jerry Wever and wife Traci; sister Velma and husband Coy More; very close cousin Nathan Holmes; close family friend Raina; 12 grandchild­ren with one on the way, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.

BELLA VISTA — Lewis

“Eugene” DeCocq, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Carthage, Miss. He was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Monett, Miss., to Seraphin and Violet Boyles-DeCocq.

After graduating from Vesailles High School on May 30, 1945, he was inducted into the armed forces on June 3, 1045. He was in training for the invasion of Japan when the H-bomb ended that war. He was stationed with the occupation forces in Germany with the 1st Infantry division, a medical detachment, with the rank of technical sergeant.

He was one of a few left from the high school graduating class of 1945. He was a member of the FFA, and he successful­ly exhibited livestock in the American Royal. He received his bachelor of science degree in business administra­tion from MSSC. He was a Safeway store employee and manger for 30 years, and he retired from a 35-year career in insurance.

He was a member of Village Baptist Church and a former member of Bella Vista Baptist Church. In May 1947, he married Mary Pauline Murphy. Four children were born to that marriage. She preceded him in death. He married Carolyn Maguire on Nov. 27, 1982. She also preceded him in death.

A dear best friend, Fances Kistler of Kansas City survives him.

Surviving family include sister Dorothy; children Ben Abrams, James (Kathie) DeCocq, Dale (Linda) DeCocq and Paula DeCocq; grandchild­ren, Becky Avahram, Brandon (Kristen) DeCocq, Travis (Misty) DeCocq, Shannon (Will) Schaad, Kimberly Benton, Lindsay (Andrew) Kletke, Julie (John) Marquis, and Brian (Rebecca) DeCocq; 13 great-grandchild­ren; special friends Jorg and Melanie Schwede in Germany and Maurisimo Matthiesen of Orlando, Fla.

A visitation will be held

on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at 9:30 a. m. with funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Village Baptist Church, 380 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., in Fayettevil­le National Cemetery, 700 Government Ave., Fayettevil­le, Ark., 72701.

BELLA VISTA — Jimmy

Leon Stephens, 71, of Bella Vista died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, at home. He was born Feb. 5, 1948, to Dudley and Carl Dean Stephens in Bentonvill­e, Ark.

Jimmy enjoyed finding old vehicles and fixing them up. He also enjoyed being outside and just enjoying life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 24 years, Marcia Stephens and sister Linda.

Survivors include sons John Stephens of Gravette, Ark., and Jamie Stephens of Hiwasse, Ark.; brother Dale Stephens of Springdale, Ark.; grandchild Lacey; and great-grandson Kaden.

CENTERTON — Ruby

Evalena Terry, 95, of Centerton, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Sept. 26, 2019. Ruby was born in Northwest Arkansas in the Zion-Oakland community on Sept. 28, 1923, to George Hiram Shaw and Bessie (Wilson) Shaw.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Verl T. Terry, one sister and one brother.

She is survived by daughters Comella Aliff and husband Earl of Springdale, Ark., and Verlene Scroggins and husband Steve of Rogers, Ark.; grandsons Mike Scroggins and wife Kahla of Lowell, Ark., and Brian Aliff of Cave Springs, Ark.; granddaugh­ter Terri Miller and husband Duane of Elkins, Ark.; and six great-granddaugh­ters.

Ruby was a devoted Christian lady who believed in sacrificia­l love. During her life on earth, she placed Jesus Christ first, others second, and herself last. She was a Sunday school teacher for young children for many years. Ruby was a faithful prayer warrior and she loved to read the Bible and share God’s great love.

Ruby was a talented, profession­al seamstress until her retirement. She enjoyed participat­ing in the Arts and Crafts Festivals of Northwest Arkansas. Her beautiful crafts were displayed and sold for many years at the Bella Vista Arts & Crafts, the Prairie Grove Battlefiel­d Park, and the Tontitown Grape Festival. Also, she participat­ed in the Fins & Feather Festival in Oklahoma. The lovely quilts and handmade gifts that she made for her children and family members are special heirloom treasures.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at the Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale, Ark. Services for Ruby will begin at 2 p.m. immediatel­y following the visitation. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery.

Online condolence­s may be left at www.siscofuner­al. com. FAYETTEVIL­LE — Mona Lou (Cole) Holt, age 88, of Fayettevil­le died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Fayettevil­le to John Earl and Iva (Moore) Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and beloved husband Wiley B. “Joe” Holt.

She was a graduate of Rogers High School and Fayettevil­le Business College. She and Joe were long-time members of Wiggins Memorial United Methodist Church where they were married June 12, 1955. They enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

She worked at Bates Elementary School for many years as a librarian and school secretary. Later, she was a member of Sequoyah United Methodist Church and volunteere­d at NARTI and Washington Regional Medical Center. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmothe­r and friend to many. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by sons Brian and wife Debbie of Fayettevil­le and Joe and wife Jean of Edmond, Okla.; grandchild­ren Aaron and wife Susan, Wiley and wife Rachel, Andrew and wife Grace, Lillian, Anna, Lucas and Caleb; and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayettevil­le followed by a private family burial at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery.

ROGERS — Linda

Evelyn Bishop, age 70 of Rogers, passed away Sept. 24, 2019, in Bentonvill­e, Ark. Linda was born Nov. 14, 1948, in Lyons, Kan., to parents Ray and Evelyn Shipman.

She met Charles Robert Bishop in high school and they were married Dec. 31, 1978. Linda and Charles were married for over 40 years and she worked as a homemaker and a devoted wife and mom.

Linda was a member of the Rogers High School class of 1968. Linda also attended cosmetolog­y school and for years was owner and operator of the Pink Cloud Beauty Shop in Rogers in the 1970s.

She loved her grandkids and great grandbabie­s as well as her pets and raising flowers. Linda was a Razorbacks fan and a good friend to everyone she knew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step father Ray Bright.

Linda is survived by husband Charles Robert “Bob” Bishop; sons Chad and Eric Bishop; daughter-in-law Crystal; brother Steven Shipman; sister Arlene Hobkirk and husband Wes of Centerton; nephew Alex Shipman; grandchild­ren Evelyn, CJ, Autumn, Chase and Dallas; great grandchild­ren Mason, Cayden, Aubree, Emma, Bryson, Catherine and Bocephus; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

ROGERS — Margo Boldman, age 73 of Rogers, passed away Sept. 2, 2019. She was born June 8, 1946, to parents Richard and Leona Parseghian.

She grew up in the suburbs of New York City and was united in marriage to Gene Boldman for almost 30 years.

Margo greatly enjoyed her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gene and brother in law Robert Dunham.

Margo is survived by sons Eddie Boldman and Keith Boldman; sister-in-law Kay Dunham; three brothers; grandchild­ren Bentley and Berkley and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gulash, 73, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Sept. 23, 2019, at her home. She was born Aug. 6, 1946, in Grand City, Ill., the daughter of the late Al and Mildred Sharlevill­e.

She worked for Mercy Hospital as an ICU secretary for 30 years and was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and to travel.

She is survived by her husband George Gulash of the home.

ROGERS — Lyn Stanley,

81, of Rogers died Sept. 23, 2019.

Lyn was a lifelong educator, novelist, poet, fair queen and a staunch defender of the English language. She taught language arts for over 30 years.

ROGERS — Monty Daniel

“Danny” Thompson, 61, of Rogers passed away Sept. 26, 2019. He was born Aug. 26, 1958, in Springdale, Ark., the son of George Oscar and Martha Maxine Pierce Thompson.

He worked for Walmart in Springdale for 10 years and recently at Open Avenue’s in Rogers. Danny had a big heart, he enjoyed listening to Elvis and watching Andy Griffith, spending time with animals and he was an avid Razorback fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Georgia Hopkins, Oscar, Frank and Larry Thompson and Carol Edwards.

He is survived by siblings Jimmie Thompson of Eudora, Kan., Debbie Eversole of Rogers and Richard Thompson of Allen, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

ROGERS — Troy Ervin

Wilcox, 66, of Rogers passed away Sept. 23, 2019. He was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Fairview, Okla.

Mr. Wilcox was preceded by his loving wife of more than 40 years, Ella Marie Wilcox, son Henry White, sister Theresa Gammon and brother Bobby Wilcox.

Troy enjoyed gardening, playing games, watching the news and football on TV and spoiling his great-grandchild­ren. His family will always remember how he loved his riding lawnmower! Enough for him to keep it parked where he could look out his window to check on it. He was a member of House of God in Rogers.

Survivors include mother Tressie Childers of Texas; daughter Beverly White (Kevin Wubbena) of Rogers; sons Jerrill White (Tricia) of Lowell, Ricky White of Bentonvill­e, Merrill White (Darcy) of Pea Ridge, and Jessie White (Michelle) of Georgia; sisters Billie Brinson (Junior) of Oklahoma and Eunice Pruitt (George) of Texas; brothers James Wilcox (Cathy) and Doug Childers (Terri) of Texas; 14 grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren; numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Ann Jackson, 81 of Springdale, Ark., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019. She was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Sayre, Pa., the daughter of Everett Lewis and Dorothy Dewitt Peterpaul.

SPRINGDALE — Mary

Carolyn Miller, age 94, formerly, of Sherwood, Ark., passed away at her residence in Springdale, Ark., Sept. 27, 2019. She was born in 1925 in Sarasota, Fla., to her late parents Hazel Darling McKune and Norman George McKenzie Corson.

Carolyn grew up in Hartford, Conn., with a love of the piano and classical music. At age 14, she taught piano to underprivi­leged children. She graduated from Hartford School of Music and Newington High School in 1943. For one year she worked in the Pratt & Whitney factory which manufactur­ed airplanes for the war effort, as an engineer’s aide. She attended nursing school in Alexandria, Va., from 1945-1948.

Carolyn worked part time as a registered nurse in labor and delivery, while she raised her children, and, retired from Fort Roots VA Hospital after 21 years in the VA system, with a total of 48 years in nursing, retiring at the age of 70.

She worked as a public school nurse for Pulaski County, RN for the Little Rock City Heath Dept., and State Health Dept. as a nursing TB specialist under Dr. Joe Bates and William Stead.

At that time, Arkansas was ranked No. 1 in the US for tuberculos­is treatment. In 1976 she began her career with the VA medical system in Little Rock at the VA Hospital on Roosevelt Road on the 5N medical surgical unit for two years, subsequent­ly the geriatric unit at Fort Roots in North Little Rock, and finally in the drug and alcohol unit at Fort Roots, retiring in 1997. She was devoted employee, and, to her very last day loved nursing.

Carolyn loved her family first and was a loving mother. She enjoyed the beauty of nature, her music and most of all her pets.

Survivors include her twin daughters Cathy (Brad) Henry of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Debby Smith of Maumelle, Ark.; grandchild­ren Cindy Smith of St. Louis Mo., Katie Smith of Maumelle, Ark., Ben Smith of Dyersburg, Tenn., Alex Hawk of Little Rock, Ark., Sam Hawk of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Erin Pickles of Savannah, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Charles Norman Miller and daughter Carol Miller.

There will be a graveside service Monday, Septe. 30, at 11 a.m., at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark.

WINSLOW — Karlee

Bown Bradberry passed away Sept. 25, 2019, at her Brentwood Farm near Winslow, Ark., surrounded by family and her three cherished dogs after a long illness.

She was predecease­d by her beloved husband and soulmate Brad, parents William Byron and Ruth VanDyke Bown, stepmother Ruth

Randolph Bown, sister Ann Randolph Bledsoe, brother John Randolph and baby brother William Byron Bown III, who died in infancy.

Karlee was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 16, 1932, where she had a strong Norwegian Dutch heritage of European Mormon missionari­es who settled in Provo, Utah, in the 19th century. However, after the death of her mother when she was 10 years old, she and her father relocated to Houston, Texas. When her father remarried, she gained the sister and brother she had always wanted and she remained devoted to them and their families throughout her life.

She met and married her husband of 62 years, Edwin (Brad) Bradberry, when they were both scholarshi­p students at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she majored in archeology and history.

Karlee was a voracious reader, collected an extensive library, and together they traveled broadly. She provided constant and unwavering support to her husband during his successful career in the oil industry. After raising their five children in Denver, Colo., Karlee and Brad establishe­d homes in Manhattan, on Fire Island, N.Y., in Fayettevil­le, Ark., and at their farm near Winslow where she felt the most at peace.

Strong and stoical in the face of adversity, but shy in the presence of strangers, Karlee loved animals and nature, quiet solitude, and most of all, spending time with her family. Together with her husband, she establishe­d a foundation at the University of Arkansas, and provided much needed financial support and medical equipment to the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock.

She is survived by children Bob & Debbie Bradberry of Brentwood Farm, Rebecca & Bob Moody of Birmingham, Ala., Karolyn & Fred Woolverton of Fayettevil­le, Ark., Bill & Shirley Bradberry of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John & Hope Bradberry of Fayettevil­le, Ark., as well as 12 grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren.

The family suggests any memorials be directed to The Mary Magdalene Serenity House in Fayettevil­le, lovehealsn­wa.org, a charity which she supported and which was very dear to Karlee’s heart.

The family would like to thank her primary caregivers, Alma with Washington Regional Medical Center, Kori with PRN, and Katrina with Brightstar Care. And finally, the family would like to express their deep appreciati­on to Carla McCorkle as well as Pastor Lowell Grisham who were so very kind to her throughout her extended illness.

YGRANBY, Mo. — Chris J. (Smith) Evans Chambers, 58, passed away Sept. 24, 2019, in Joplin, Mo. She was born Dec. 27, 1960, in Lake Charles, La., to Lorren Smith and Doris (Roberts) Clark.

She was the loving wife of 25 years to James Chambers.

In her younger years, she worked at Walmart in the warehouse. One day her line was not prepped for workers and an older man came along and asked if she needed help, she said, “Yes, start putting boxes on the line for my crew.” That person was Sam Walton.

She was such a wonderful person, with a gift for listening and a heart for giving. This was apparent when strangers would to talk to her about their lives wherever she went. Chris was a very caring woman who always had time for others. She volunteere­d at the Benton County Women’s Shelter for many years.

Chris is survived by her husband Jim of Missouri; mother Doris Clark and husband Larry of Missouri; children Jennifer Wyman of Sulphur Springs, Cliff Chambers of New Jersey, Amanda Uranga of Missouri and Jason Chambers of Missouri; sisters Karen Merseal of Holiday Island, Cathy McGarrah of Marble and Michelle Templeton of Bentonvill­e; brothers Richard Smith of Rogers and Reese Smith of Marble; five grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren.
