Chopra, Walton plan museum symposium

A Sages and Scientists symposium is set for Nov. 1417 at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, it was announced Thursday.

Deepak Chopra, best-selling author and pioneer in integrative medicine, and Alice Walton, founder of Crystal Bridges, announced the gathering in a news release.

“Using the power of convening to address and overcome critical challenges, like well-being, is a key component of the Sages and Scientists mission,” Walton said in the news release.

Chopra and his foundation launched Sages and Scientists in 2010 and have held four symposiums, all in California.

“The symposium is a catalyst for our work to improve global well-being trends and reveal the future of integrative health, humanity and the cosmos,” Chopra said in the news release.

Speakers scheduled for the gathering include Rudolph E. Tanzi, professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School; Anousheh Ansari, CEO of the Xprize Foundation; Desh Deshpande, chairman of the Sparta Group; Kat Graham, actress, singer, dancer and producer; Paul Tudor Jones, founder of Tudor Investment; and Dava Newman, Apollo program professor of astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Walton, longtime businesswoman and philanthropist, is the chairwoman of the museum’s board and board member of the Walton Family Foundation.

Chopra is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism. He is the author of more than 85 books, including numerous New York Times bestsellers. His latest book is Metahuman: Unleashing Your Infinite Potential.
