BENTONVILL­E — Janice Skelton, 77, my lovely wife, passed away Oct. 9, 2019, on our 61st wedding anniversar­y. A celebratio­n of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel. ELKINS — Winona Mae Waggoner, of Elkins, Ark., went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019. She was born Aug. 11, 1930, in Wichita, Kan., to William Dekalb and Zana Anna (Roach) Yeakel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bobby Glen Waggoner.

Winona was the only child of a pastor/evangelist, traveling all over the United States in ministry. She met the love of her life, Bobby, in 1950 in Roswell, N.M., where her parents were pastoring the Apostolic Faith Church. They were married in June 1951 and were married for 67 years.

In 1961 they moved to Madison County, Ark., where she helped manage the family’s 800-acre farm and poultry business. She enjoyed working with ceramics and macrame, and loved babysittin­g her grandkids. She was a longtime member and pianist of Crosses Community Church and was very involved in her church and community, as well as serving on the Elkins City Council. She made the best chocolate cake ever, for which she was famous! She also had a recipe for ‘How To Preserve A Husband.’

Winona is survived by daughters Patricia Warford (and Gene) of Fayettevil­le, Ark., and Pamela Eurich of Elkins, Ark.; sons Bill Waggoner (and Rhonda) of Elkins, Ark., David Waggoner of the Florida Keys and Delbert Waggoner (and Jamie) of Ashland, Kan.; nine grandchild­ren; 15 great-grandchild­ren; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held at Moore’s Funeral Chapel in Fayettevil­le on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at Moore’s Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at McCord Cemetery.

FAYETTEVIL­LE — On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, Glen Drain passed away at age 72. Glen was born July 2, 1947, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., to Dewell (Dood) Drain and Irene Vanlanding­ham Drain.

Glen served his country in the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star. He was a loving father, an accomplish­ed archer, carpenter, and mechanic, and had a passion for photograph­y and exploring the Arkansas outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Billy Drain.

He is survived by daughter Becky Drain Schroeder; siblings Joyce Thompson, Leon Drain and Nancy Hafliger; and many family and friends.

ROGERS — Mr. Leonard Wayne Pollock, age 66, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, in Rogers, Ark. He was born March 12, 1953, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Richard and Mary Hopper Pollock.

Mr. Pollock was preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard E. Pollock and sister Helen F. Newhard.

Mr. Pollock is survived by son Jerry Pollock and wife Amanda of Rogers; daughters Lee Anne Pitts and husband Nolen of Rogers, Beverly Craig and husband Micheal of Jonesboro, Ark.; brother Steve Pollock of Rogers; sisters Vickie Craig and husband Lavell of Tennessee and Amy Laughlin of Pea Ridge; grandchild­ren Jerry Jr., Dakota, and Shelton Pollock, Katelyn Craig, Aydian Timmons and Greyson Turner; and many nieces and nephews. He was known as papa to Justin and Mary LeRoux and Travis Stacey.

Memorial graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Pace Cemetery.

ROGERS — James Edward Smith of Rogers passed away Oct. 21, 2019. He was born May 10, 1936, in Gary, Ind., to the late Jesse E. Smith and Claire (Zobjeck) Smith.

He was a military policeman in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Bethlehem Steel near Chicago before moving to Arkansas in 1979 and becoming a farmer.

After suffering a spinal cord injury in 1989, he was still able to enjoy fishing, gardening, sewing and cooking for his family. James was a loving son and faithfully cared for his mother in their home until she passed away in 2001. He was also a very loving father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r. He was a member of the Thirteenth Street Church of Christ in Rogers, Ark.

His survivors include daughters Pamela Shields of Seligman, Mo., Tina (Gilbert) Barnwell of Rogers, Jeri Ann (Tim) Wilson of Oakwood, Ill., and Misti (Will) Loan of Wallace, S.C.; sons Roy G. Smith of Arnaudvill­e, La., Edmund (Angie) Smith of Rogers and Jesse (Amy) Smith of Crossett, Ark.; 10 grandchild­ren, and several great-grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by father Jesse Smith in 1941, brother Jerry Lee Smith in 1948, step-father Stanley Jaros in 1993 and mother Claire Smith Jaros in 2001.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Thirteenth Street Church of Christ, 2002 S. 13th St., Rogers, Ark. Visitation with the family will be at 2 p.m. before the service. James will be laid to rest in Fayettevil­le National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark.

ROGERS — Vadis Olivia Stevens of Rogers passed away on Oct. 22, 2019. She was born July 30, 1943, in Elby, Ark., to the late Elmer and Ethel (Blair) Cooley.

Vadis worked for 30 years at Daisy Manufactur­ing in Rogers and for 10 years at Walmart. She and her husband, Derral, were members of Cross Church in Rogers. She will be remembered as a hard-working woman who loved her family.

Her survivors include husband Derral; children Tommy Stevens, Kelly Stevens and Debra Hitchcock; eight grandchild­ren; five great-grandchild­ren; and sister Joyce Weekley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; children Jim and Janet Hoffman; and siblings Jesse Cooley, Lloyd Cooley, David Cooley, Marvin Cooley, James Cooley and Wanda-Carolyn Hughes.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Vadis will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. on Friday at Plant Cemetery in Clinton.

SPRINGDALE — Robert George Hild, 77, of Springdale died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Circle of Life Hospice. He was born Sunday, July 12, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., to Robert and Lois Williams Hild.

Robert retired from George’s Inc., where he served as office manager for the Truck Shop.

He was predecease­d by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Williams Cemetery at Dutton.

Pallbearer­s will be John C. Falkner, Vikki Falkner, Garry Robinson and Randy Slaughter. Honorary pallbearer­s are Bud Owen, Bill Daily, Ike Briggs, Delmer George, Wayne Hunt and Jimmy Tilton.

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.

SPRINGDALE — Thomas Benjamin Ramey, 56, of Springdale died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019. He was born Jan. 8, 1963, in Prairie Grove, Ark., the son of Robert Ramey and Vicie Isenhower

Ramey.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Sharron Ramey of the home; three daughters; two sons; nine grandchild­ren and six older brothers.

Tom loved being outside, gardening, and watching the birds with a cup of coffee in his hand. He adored his devoted Bichon, Sadie, and she was always by his side. Tom had a kind and gentle soul, and he loved his family and his friends with all of his heart.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home.
