POWER RANKINGS

Breaking down the ACC

-

1. Clemson:

The Tigers fell again in national polls, but not in this one. They’re more than halfway through their league slate.

2. Virginia:

The Cavaliers recovered from the loss to Miami with a resounding result against Duke.

3. Pittsburgh:

The Panthers have a couple of road victories in the ACC and they look plenty aggressive at times.

4. Wake Forest:

The Demon Deacons win with five field goals against Florida State a week after eight touchdowns weren’t enough vs. Louisville.

5. Boston College:

The Eagles turn to another quarterback, but the rushing attack is what makes it flow most of the time for this team.

6. Virginia Tech:

The Hokies win the historic six-overtime matchup with Tar Heels, so now they’re thinking of bigger things again in Blacksburg.

7. North Carolina:

The Tar Heels find themselves in another close game. Their two ACC losses have come by one point and two points.

8. Duke:

The Blue Devils weren’t up to the task against Virginia. The best remedy would be to go to Chapel Hill and return with a victory.

9. Florida State:

The Seminoles needed one field goal at the end of the game and couldn’t come up with it against Wake Forest.

10. North Carolina State:

The Wolfpack has the week off and that could mean transitioning to a third starting quarterback of the season.

11. Louisville:

The two-game winning streak went by the wayside with the loss to Clemson, but the Cardinals can still make some noise.

12. Georgia Tech:

The Yellow Jackets pick up their first ACC victory under coach Geoff Collins with some overtime work at Miami.

13. Miami:

The Hurricanes are bound to regret the mistakes against the Yellow Jackets and it could be a rough final stretch of the season

14. Syracuse:

Orange began the season in the national rankings, but that seems like a long, long time ago after the home loss to Pittsburgh.
