OKLAHOMA BAPTIST 33, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 31

The University of Arkansas-Monticello’s fourth-quarter rally came up short Saturday at Crain Family Stadium in Shawnee, Okla.

The Boll Weevils (5-3, 5-3 GAC) trailed the Bison (4-4, 4-4) 33-17 with 12:19 left before scoring twice. After UAM’s final score, a 19-yard pass from Demilon Brown to DeAndre Washington with 1:29 remaining, Oklahoma Baptist recovered Josh Marini’s onside-kick attempt and ran out the clock.

The Boll Weevils led 7-0 on Devontae Dean’s 1-yard touchdown late in the first quarter before the Bison scored a safety, kicked a field goal and got two Preston Haire touchdown runs to take a 19-7 halftime advantage.

Marini’s 42-yard field goal and another Dean 1-yard dive pulled the Boll Weevils within 19-17, but Haire — the GAC leader in passing yards and touchdowns — found Keilahn Harris for scoring tosses of 40 and 78 yards to give the Bison their 33-17 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Brown and Washington connected on a 17-yard touchdown with 9:47 left to trim the deficit to 33-24, but the Boll Weevils fumbled on their ensuing possession. The Bison took nearly five minutes on their next drive before punting, as Brown and Washington cashed in UAM’s final scoring drive with a 7-play, 80-yard possession.
