UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT LITTLE ROCK

Selena Gordon of Fort Smith is one of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Theater Arts and Dance students showcased in the fall production of Eurydice Oct. 16-20 in the Center for Performing Arts.

Gordan, who played Eurydice, is a senior pursuing a degree in theater. Her recent credits include As You Like It, The All Night Strut, Predators and The Flick. She wrote and directed WakeUp! which debuted in last semester’s Fringe Festival. She recently returned from Los Angeles, where she interned with Bohemia Group, an internatio­nal talent management group. She was stage manager for the 2016 Fall Dance Harvest and was also a quarter-finalist on the 2013 season of America’s Got Talent. She is currently a member of the Chancellor’s Leadership Corps organizati­on on campus, works closely with the THEA foundation in North Little Rock and is an active participan­t in various volunteer groups around the community.

ARKANSAS AVIATION HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Arkansas Aviation Historical Society at its 36th annual Arkansas Aviation Hall of Fame Ceremony on Nov. 7, in addition to recognizin­g five outstandin­g Arkansans for their significan­t contributi­ons to the developmen­t of aviation either in the state or nation, distribute­d 20 $3,000 scholarshi­ps to students enrolled in aviation degree (Profession­al Pilot) programs at Henderson State University, Ozarka College and Liberty University (online) the three institutio­ns of higher learning in the state so licensed. Proceeds from the annual event fund the scholarshi­ps.

The five inductees were Russ Amos, Ron Herron, Don Ruggles, J.O. Dockery (deceased) and Dennis Cantrell (deceased).

Local recipient from HSU was Dakota Ray Barbry of Greenwood.

The recipient from Ozarka College in

Melbourne was Dane Hilger from Gravette.
