NO. 23 IOWA 23, NO. 7 MINNESOTA 19

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Minnesota’s undefeated season came to an end in a place where the Gophers have struggled for a while.

Nate Stanley threw for two touchdown passes and Tyler Goodson ran for a score to help No. 23 Iowa beat No. 7 Minnesota, handing the Gophers their first loss while hurting their playoff prospects.

The Hawkeyes (7-3, 4-3 Big Ten) struck quickly, scoring touchdowns on their first three possessions, then held off Minnesota’s charge in the second half for their first victory over a ranked opponent this season.

The Gophers (9-1, 6-1, No. 8 CFP) haven’t won at Kinnick Stadium since 1999, losing nine straight on the road in the series.

NO. 9 PENN STATE 34, NO. 24 INDIANA 27

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State’s best offense wasn’t explosive or flashy. It was grinding and relentless and it helped keep the No. 9 Nittany Lions’ playoff hopes alive.

Penn State (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten, No. 9 CFP) got three touchdowns from quarterback Sean Clifford who completed 11 of 23 passes for 179 yards and ran for 55 yards in Penn State’s win over No. 24 Indiana (7-3, 4-3).

With Penn State ahead by three with 10:45 to play, Clifford

led an 18-play, 75-yard drive that burned 9:01 and ended when he plunged in from a yard out to put the game out of reach.

“For our offense to go on an 18-play drive, I haven’t been around many of them,” Penn State coach James Franklin said.

NO. 17 CINCINNATI 20, SOUTH FLORIDA 17

TAMPA, Fla. — Sam Crosa killed a 37-yarder field goal as time expired to give No. 17 Cincinnati a victory over South Florida and at least a share of the American Athletic Conference East division title.

The Bearcats (8-1, 6-0, No. 17 CFP) rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to win for the eighth straight time, getting touchdown runs from Michael Warren and Gerrid Doaks

before Desmond Ridder led an 11-play, 60-yard drive to win the game. USF’s Spencer Shrader missed a 33-yard field goal that would have given the Bulls (4-6, 2-4) the lead with 2:07 remaining.

NO. 18 MEMPHIS 45, HOUSTON 27

HOUSTON — Brady White threw for 341 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another score and No. 18 Memphis overcame a 10-point first-quarter deficit to beat Houston.
