No. 2 Baylor women rout Lamar for 34th win in a row

WACO, Texas — Graduate transfer Erin DeGrate scored 19 points, NaLyssa Smith added 18 on 8-of-8 shooting and Queen Egbo had another double-double as No. 2 and defending national champion Baylor won its 34th game in a row, 90-28 over Lamar on Thursday night.

Playing for the second time in three nights, all 10 players who got in the game scored for the Lady Bears (5-0). All played pretty much a half, with DeGrate’s season-high 21 minutes the most, and 19 the fewest by anyone.

Egbo had 12 points and 10 points in 19 minutes for her second double-double in a row. Te’a Cooper had 12 points with three 3-pointers.

Angel Hastings had 13 points for Lamar (1-3), which shot 18% overall (10 of 57) and was outrebound­ed 4512. Leading scorer Amber Vidal, who was averaging 16.3 points, scored two points on 1-of-16 shooting.

NO. 7 OREGON STATE 95, SOUTHERN UTAH 45

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Taylor Jones scored 18 points to help Oregon State beat Southern Utah in a game that began at 11 a.m.

With a near-capacity crowd of 9,301 at the annual Beavers Beyond the Classroom game — local elementary and middle-school students were admitted free — the Beavers (5-0) raced to a 13-0 lead over the undersized Thunderbir­ds (3-2).

Guard Mikayla Pivec had 18 rebounds, 10 points and seven assists. Kat Tudor and Destiny Slocum added 14 points, Aleah Goodman 12 and Noelle Mannen 10. The Beavers shot 53% and had a 56-27 rebounding advantage.

Harley Hansen scored 12 points for Southern Utah. The Thunderbir­ds shot 28%.

NO. 5 SOUTH CAROLINA 112, S.C. UPSTATE 32

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Freshman Aliyah Boston scored a career-high 18 points, Ty Harris also had 18 South Carolina routed South Carolina Upstate.

The Gamecocks (5-0) took a 27-2 lead before the Spartans

(3-3) hit their first field goal. All 11 players on South Carolina’s roster saw action, and 10 scored. Six finished in double figures.

Victaria Saxton scored 14 points, Mikiah Herbert Harrigan had 13, Destanni Henderson had 15 and Laeticia Amihere had 10.

NO. 8 LOUISVILLE 86, CHATTANOOG­A 37

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Dana Evans scored 18 points and Louisville held Chattanoog­a to 24.6% shooting, forced 18 turnovers and outrebound­ing the Mocs 59-28.

Kylee Shook added 12 points and 11 rebounds, and freshman Norika Konno added a career-high 11 points for the Cardinals (4-0). Eboni Williams led Chattanoog­a (1-6) with a season-high 18 points.

NO. 10 MISS STATE 92, JACKSON STATE 53

JACKSON, Miss. — Jessika Carter had 21 points and eight rebounds to help Mississipp­i State rout Jackson State.

Freshman Rickea Jackson added 13 points, Andra Espinoza-Hunter had 12, and Myah Taylor finished with 11 points and five assists for the Bulldogs (5-0) in their first road game of the season. Chloe Bibby had a career-high 15 rebounds.

Former Mississipp­i State player Ameshya Williams had 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Tigers (1-4).

NO. 13 KENTUCKY 79, MOREHEAD STATE 54

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Rhyne Howard hit five 3-pointers and finished with 24 points for Kentucky.

Sabrina Haines had 14 points, Blair Green scored 12 and Tatyana Wyatt had 10 points and eight rebounds for Kentucky (5-0).

Jazzmyn Elston and Tomiyah Alford led Morehead State (2-3) with 11 points each.

NO. 25 WEST VIRGINIA 82, COPPIN STATE 47

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Kysre Gondrezick scored 20 points and Tynice Martin added 17 for West Virginia.

Gondrezick was 8 of 12 from the field with three 3-pointers for West Virginia (4-0). Aliyah Lawson scored 15 points for Coppin State (0-5).
