Democrats must respond to several key concerns

-

Recent newspaper letters and Facebook posts have explained why folks like/love President Trump. Since 63 million citizens elected him, if Democrats ignore those voters’ reasoning, they do so at their own peril, namely, getting four more years of Trump. The following three items are big issues that need to be addressed by Dems and their candidate:

1. Voters do not want to be treated as “less than” by elites, and their issues ignored.

2. Many people don’t care about his personality, style or lies. It feels like he’s one of us: He looks & sounds like me; he’s working for me; he’s shaking up Washington and the world. Plus, he’s gotten results: The economy is great; lots of conservative judges are now on the courts; he’s standing up for the USA; illegal immigration has slowed.

3. And, there is genuine concern about controversial issues, including: (A) What is America’s role in the world, global policeman or mostly to protect the USA? (B) What’s the answer to two big moral issues, overturning Rowe vs. Wade and how LGBTQ citizens are to be treated? (C) We still fear difference: Illegal immigration must stop … build the wall. And (D) What’s the role of government? There’s too much of it. So many regulations, for example. It’s out of touch and corrupt.

I don’t like Trump at all. From the moment he came down the escalator and started his attacks on Mexicans, I said “no way” for him to be president for all Americans. And, he lies to my face every day on the south lawn of the White House. Still, I can’t deny that 63 million fellow citizens said, “Let’s do it!” While his “warts, flaws, missteps, mistakes, language” drive me crazy, he got elected.

Democrats, pay attention! He connected and you didn’t. Plus, he’s still out there!
