Fans sound off on whom Arkansas should hire as its new head football coach …

Hogmodo: Will it be [1] a great coach who has a checkered past but could be a great hire (Kiffin, Leach, Norvell, Sarkasian, Charlie Strong, etc.); [2] a diamond in the rough, a lower level coach who has great potential and just needs the right opportunity (Skip Holtz, Fritz, Drinkwitz, Napier, Anderson, etc.); [3] someone none of us expected.

jacksonreid: Regional ties — born and raised in Oklahoma, coached in Texas. Offensive background. Proven program builder. Power 5 experience. I have a feeling HY will have strong interest in Justin Fuente. Would Fuente be interested in moving back to where he came from?

Hogbacker: Wouldn’t surprise me if it isn’t Drinkwitz or Holtz or maybe someone else with a Z in their name. …. If the Hogs beat Mizzou would the interim hat be discarded for Lunney?

rknsaw: Whoever gets hired, I hope they offer Pittman megabucks to coach our line. He’s worth it.

neastarkie: I have no idea who he’ll hire. There are some I’m not too crazy about, some I’d prefer, but whoever gets the nod will get my full support until he’s no longer the coach here.

Richard Davenport: Would Hunter Yuracheck hire someone similar to Muss in football? NFL and college experience?

Ricepig1: So, Saban, Spurrier, or Kiffin?

Hawghawbend: Sure, and Kiffin is the template for that, right? Who else do you have in mind? Bobby? I’d love it. But Bobby won’t recruit like Muss. Kiffin would.

bakedhog19741: Yep, and someone that’s not been mentioned, yet.

citgeauxhog: I wonder who that could be? Outside the box, Bill O’Brien? Doug Marrone? Both are east coast guys? God

I hope not Kliff Kingsbury! Eric Bieniemy? I could get behind this!

mchawg: What about his hires at Houston? College and pro experience, don’t forget about Steve Sarkisian. But he doesn’t really have any Texas connection.

doghog72: I would be pretty excited with Kingsbury.

harleyhawgidson: Jim Mora?

sachawg: Wow, that’s a throwback name. Without looking it up, how old is he now?

harleyhawgidson: Same age as Leach I think. I’m not sure I’d want him, but there are worse choices. He hasn’t coached since 2017, so no buy out. At UCLA, he had back to back 10-win seasons. Not easy to do at UCLA, especially in the 21st century. As mentioned earlier, his last two years (2016 and 17) weren’t great. If buy out money is an issue. I guess they might take a look.

goldsurfer: Of those mentioned so far, Kiffin probably closest resume to Muss…Pro, college, and number of different mentors and contacts.

bayouhog: I’m intrigued by Sam Pittman, but if this experiment didn’t work then we would be irrelevant for another 3-4 years. world series of pork er: I would take David Shaw, but don’t think he will leave Stanford.

jacksonreid: …if I’m HY I do all in my power to try and convince Matt Campbell he needs to be at a flagship university at the best conference in America. Assuming he’s interested I make him a top 10 offer in terms of money and security. He is an elite, special coach.

SwineFusion: I still get the feeling HY is going to surprise us … the new HC will not be a name that has appeared in most of the speculation.

razorbacker79: Like Luke Fickell? His name now appearing in some media circles. Has a “where there’s smoke” feel to it. I’d not heard him mentioned before. Looks like a good coach on paper, but that in itself makes me nervous.

hog2009: Go back to Nevada. Jay Norvell. mchawg: Since Auburn lost to Georgia … heard that if they lose to Alabama without Tua, then Gus is gone. Hello Arkansas?

biffmalibu: I’ll believe it when I see it. Don’t think they’ll drop $20 million to make him go away.

jacksonreid: give me Leach all day long over tired, stale Gus.

pavlovhog: Now this is what I’ve heard. Hunter is going to go all PC on us and hire a woman. It’s my understanding that Beth Mowins is tired of her play-by-play gig and wants to do some real coaching. She’s itching to move to Fayetteville. Chuck is going to be canned as the host of the coaches show. Channel 7 will hire Alyssa Orange and Tera Talmadge as co-anchors. It will be called Razorback Football with Beth, Alyssa and Tera, or “the Squad,” as they will be affectionately known.

hawgjawbend: Trying too hard. Not that funny.

lilhawg: I love it! Makes as much sense as some of the know-it-alls on here.

jimbeau77: We could do worse, or have done worse, lately.

Score predictions for Saturday’s game at LSU …

eurohog: 56-10. LSU pulls the starters mid-third quarter, per Orgeron’s comments on Tua’s injury.

jhawg: Orgeron fails the written test for his driver’s license and can’t drive himself to the game. Nevertheless, he arrives at halftime by bus to lead LSU to a 2nd half comeback win. LSU 55, Arkansas 17.

ricemab54: LSU, as many as they want U of A, not near enough.

neastarkie: That’s my prediction, too.

arlingtonhog: 42-17

georgiahawg: Limpert kicks five field goals and they score at will in second half. Razorbacks play hard and stay competitive for two quarters before

the dam breaks. Boyd goes over 120 yards and one TD. LSU 45, Ark 22.

razorwill: LSU can name the score. Everyone getting excited about how Ole Miss moved the ball on them, remember they were coming off a big win against ‘Bama. LSU 63, Ark. 20. jfuture: 63 – 17. LDHog: LSU wins big…Captain Obvious. But I predict that the kids respond to Lunney and show much improved effort and heart.

stillgreghog: LSU, as much as they want. I say 62. Hogs, not very much. I say 10. suigeneris: 52-10.

jacksonreid: LSU 63, Arkansas 14.

bakedhog19741: LSU will score a lot. Arkansas will not.

poochpunt: I’d like to see Arkansas dog pile every play on offense and defense, so the refs would have a hard time resetting the ball in less than 20 seconds.

bballhawg: Hogs shock the world — lose by only 24 using the four corner offense. generalhog: Arkansas 38, LSU 37.

jacksonreid: At least you’re consistent.

batonrougehog: KJ runs for an amazing 214 yards, as the Chavis defense of old rears its devastating head, shutting LSU out of the end zone with only two field goals for the game. Final score: Hogs 31, LSU 6. Game so exciting that I delay going to the restroom, though I blame the wet drawers on a spilled beer (not a lie, as it is actually “spilled” processed beer). mchawg: Arkansas Razorbacks COMPETE. Don’t worry about the score.

hawgocotton: Amen. Give all you got and have some pride.

sdhog: LSU 54, AR 6. The players that have been laying off will continue to lay off. Don’t believe they can just turn it on all of a sudden. The young ones get valuable experience but LSU pounds us after the showing against OM.
