‘Everything Lost to the Light’ Okay Alright Delta Coast Records

Following a series of single and EP releases, Okay Alright, the indie folk pop project of independent singer/songwriter Bryce Waitkus, released its debut full-length album, “Everything Lost To The Light,” on March 13.

From lo-fi rock to spoken word to ambient acoustic to DIY folk, the album is sweeping, completely unique and lovably personal as Waitkus writes and records beautiful, vulnerable and refreshingly personal songs between his bedroom in Chicago and his dorm room on the central coast of California.

‘Majestic’ MAJ Def Jam Recordings

As much as sound travels from speaker to recipient, it also diverges into a two-way exchange of emotions, feelings and thoughts. Traversing this highway, Maj listens just as much as he speaks. The Pine Bluff-born and Dallasbased artist tempers grunge-inflected production, soulful delivery and nocturnal hip-hop with stark vulnerability and confessional storytelling on his March 13 release, “Majestic.”

“I want people to know somebody is actually here for them,” he exclaims. “For me, music means something. It’s not just about guns, girls or annoying things we hear so often. Most of us are a little lost right now. If you hear me, I hope you know you’re not alone afterwards.”

‘A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling’ Magdalena Bay Luminelle Recordings

Rising indie-pop savants Magdalena Bay released their eight-track EP, “A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling,” March 13 via Luminelle Recordings. Detailing experiences from the past two years, the project unites Magdalena Bay’s recent string of flawless, indie-pop gems and adds two brand-new tracks to their prolific catalogue.

The group seamlessly stitch together old and new, breathing new life into the neon late-night and offbeat cinematic nostalgia of the ’80s with savant-like songwriting skill to create their own handcrafted sound and vision that packages melancholic themes inside a high-gloss, otherworldly pop. Taking inspiration from both Carly Rae Jepsen and Charli XCX, Magdalena Bay’s Mica Tenenbaum (singer/songwriter) and Matthew Lewin (producer/songwriter) have been making music together since high school and are a regular staple on Spotify’s official Indie Pop, All New Indie, and HYPERPOP lists.

‘AMMA’ Puta Volcano iota 5 Records

“AMMA,” out March 13, is the third full-length release from Greek hard rock, post-grunge, desert quartet Puta Volcano. A highly enterprising and unusual release, “AMMA” is full of heft and verve. Elements of Alice In Chains, Melvins, Hole, even A Perfect Circle, Kylesa and Baroness combine to create a tantalizing listen, showcasing a young band really hitting their stride.

Puta Volcano has been building up their legacy and fanbase, one gig, one album, one song at the time. Already acknowledged in the Greek heavy rock scene, the band formed in 2012, releasing their debut EP, “Represent Victory Below Eye,” and their debut 2015 fulllength, “The Sun,” was recognized as a fresh and inspiring offerings.

“A progressive vision of what grunge could have become,” The Obelisk opines.
