age 81, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away May 8, 2020. She was born Oct. 30, 1938, the daughter of Elmer and Amanda Bergschnei­der in Urich, Mo. Mary was a registered nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 59 years, Louis Baer; son Louis Baer II; daughters Mary L. Sprong, Pamela K. BaerHolt and Melissa A. White; brothers William and Eugene Bergschnei­der; sisters Kathryn Garriga, Cecelia Bergschnei­der, Elaine Urton, Alvina O’Bannon and Agnes Foster; eight grandchild­ren and seven great-grandchild­ren.

BELLA VISTA — Anna Jean Yates beloved wife, mother and friend went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2020.

She was a caring and loving woman and who will be missed by her family and friends.

Anna was a devout Christian happily married to her high school sweetheart, Dennison, for 48 wonderful years until his death in 2012.

Anna moved to Bella Vista in 1995 from Little Rock, Ark., spending several years tutoring migrant children in Benton County, where many students and their parents appreciate­d her efforts.

Anna was preceded in death by husband Dennison Fulton Yates Jr. and her parents, Flora Belle Poe (nee Halley) and William Eugene Poe.

She is survived by daughter Deanna Jones and husband Russ; several grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren; brother William Arthur Poe of Eureka Springs; and Danny W. Holmes, her companion of recent years.

Anna passed at home in Bella Vista after a difficult recovery from surgery in the care of her granddaugh­ter, Jessica Lynn Hallermann.

FARMINGTON — Florence Frederick, age 75, Farmington, Ark., passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020, in Farmington, Ark. She was born Sept. 25, 1944, in Natural Dam, Ark., the daughter of Clarence and Grace (Easter) Moses.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters Lula Boster, Sam Moses, Oma Jones, Ruth Hyatt and Edward Moses.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Cecil Frederick; son Mike Frederick of Shreveport, La.; daughters Fern Clear and husband Terry of Centerton, Ark., Dianne Bottoms and husband Rob of Patrick, Ark., and Carla Dugan and husband Bob of Greenwood, Ark.; brother Jesse Moses and wife Jane of Cedarville, Ark.; grandchild­ren Devon Morris, Zachary Bottoms, Amanda Horine, Aron Turner, Seth Eliot, Odessa Clear and Annalei Frederick; 10 great-grandchild­ren.

HARRISON — Joel Keith Tabor of Harrison passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. He was 69 years old. A visitation was on Friday, May 8, at Holt Memorial Chapel. A graveside service took place Saturday, May 9, at Crawford Cemetery.

The son of J.T. and Elsie Mae (Waltman) Tabor, he was born March 29, 1951, in Harrison, Ark. Joel played basketball for Pyatt High School and was the state All-Star MVP. He then played basketball for two years as a Razorback for the University of Arkansas. Joel then moved to the University of Central Arkansas and played basketball for two years for the UCA Bears. He also coached basketball, softball, and baseball for Harrison Consolidat­ed Youth.

Joel had an outgoing personalit­y and never met a stranger. He was known as a people collector because he was always lending a helping hand to his friends and family. In honor of Joel’s time playing for the Razorbacks and his time being a lifelong fan, the family asked all attending guests wear red or Razorback attire.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ann Tabor; mother Elsie Mae Tabor; son Ryan Tabor; daughter Keri King; grandchild­ren Kelsey King, Gavin Beaver-Tabor, Kylie King, Jacob King and Huxley Tabor; sisters Pam Tabor and husband Terry and Beverly Baker and husband Larry; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Born in Richfield, Utah, on April 30, 1975, Carla dearly loved her home state. She married Brett Bethany on July 23, 1998, in Richfield, Utah, and moved to Arkansas in 2000, where they settled and made a wonderful home.

Brett and Carla had two cherished children: daughter Alexis and son Ashton.

Gardening and outdoors were two of her favorite pastimes. Having a green thumb, Carla raised and babied her delicious vegetables enjoyed by many family members and friends. She was very creative and loved exploring different crafts. Carla had a very artistic talent and loved to use her gift. The many creations she made were very desirable and wanted by many people. Camping in the mountains, or anywhere she could hike or “just be” brought her great peace of mind.

Being with family was very important to her. Carla dearly loved the times her family was able to travel and visit close family back in her beloved Utah whenever they could.

Working in the medical field was a career chosen at an early age, always loving to be of help to people.

Online guestbook at www.roller funeralhom­es.com/paris. PINE BLUFF — Margaret Ann Dial Dawson, 88, of Pine Bluff transition­ed to Heaven on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Trinity Village Medical Center. She was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Faith, Ark., daughter of Cecil Iris and Henry Martin Dial, Jr.

Her father owned and operated Dial and Son Grocery Store.

At age 10 she joined the Jefferson County 4-H Club. Because of her outstandin­g achievemen­ts in 4-H, including winning Arkansas secretary and Leadership Award, she was selected, along with representa­tives from 48 states, to be the representa­tive for Arkansas. At age 18, she was the youngest representa­tive to travel to the British Isles for the Internatio­nal Farm Youth Exchange. She was in Switzerlan­d, Germany, France, Ireland, Wales, Britain, and Scotland for fice and a half months.

Margaret Ann was reared and received her early education in Watson Chapel, where her father was president of the school board. She was on the Wildcat basketball team, a Beta Club member, on the Wildcat Scratch staff, and on the Pep Squad. At age 15, as a Future Farmers of America member, Margaret Ann won the Arkansas State food preparatio­n award and rode the Rock Island train to accept it at the 4-H Congress in Chicago. She graduated from high school in 1948.

She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayettevil­le in 1952. Margaret Ann was in the Delta Gamma Sorority, Phi Upsilon Omicron, an honorary home economics club and she belonged to the Colhecon Club. After graduation she worked as an associate extension agent in Newport and Monticello, Arkansas.

Then she pursued her master’s in education at the University of Maryland, graduating in 1956. For two and a half years, she worked as an associate extension agent for the University of Nevada in Reno. While in graduate school, she worked in Washington, D.C. for the IFYE program.

In January 1959, Margaret Ann worked in public relations at the National Bank of Commerce in Pine Bluff. While working there she met Judge Lawrence E. Dawson. Margaret Ann and her family were active members of Good Faith Methodist Church. On Nov. 10, 1959, she and Lawrence were married there. They both created a happy haven for themselves and their daughters at home in Pine Bluff.

Margaret Ann was also a second grade, home economics and adult education science teacher. She worked in nutrition with the dieticians at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide. In 1966 she was a finalist in the Arkansas Chicken Cooking Contest in Hot Springs. In 1967 Margaret Ann, accompanie­d by her husband Lawrence, was Mrs. Arkansas in the Mrs. America Pageant in San Diego, Calif. In the children’s entertainm­ent category, she won third place.

She was a member of 4-H, where she was given the 4-H Emerald Award for being in the club for over 50 years. She also belonged to IFYE, the Jefferson County Homemakers Extension Club and was presented with a 50-year membership certificat­e. In the Daughters of the American Revolution, in which she was a regent, she earned a 50-year membership award. Governor Huckabee gave her a Civic Award and she received a certificat­e for Human Relations and Civic Contributi­ons on All Civic Night in Pine Bluff in 1988.

Margaret Ann also belonged to the Simmons Classic Club, Christian Women’s Associatio­n, Salvation Army Auxiliary, where she served as president. She was vice president of the PTA, president of her Watson Chapel Alumni, a member of Strumming Seniors, an election worker at various elections, member of the Pine Bluff Symphony and Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, Sister Cities, Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean and Beautiful Commission, Neighborho­od Watch, a Tusk Hog Razorback member, member of Jefferson County Democratic Women, she co-chaired the style show and luncheon for Judicial Wives in 1980, telephone contact ministry, Master Gardeners and Pine Bluff Musical Coterie.

At First Presbyteri­an Church, which she joined in 1959, she was in the choir, was a Blessings Cookbook Writer, helped with Vacation Bible School and WWJD, taught and attended Sunday School, was a hostess at potlucks and cooked meals for Martha’s Friends, participat­ed in the Halloween Carnival, served on the Sesquicent­ennial History Committee and was a member of Presbyteri­an Women’s Circle.

Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, singing, reading, watching and attending Razorback games, watching classic movies and television, painting, traveling, sewing, playing bunko and bridge, writing and decorating.

Margaret Ann was happiest being with her family, friends and when she was interactin­g and making connection­s with people.

Margaret Ann was the best wife, mother, and mother-inlaw to Lawrence, Dana and Mac, Robin and Greg and Laura. This Christian woman touched many children’s and adult’s lives with her grace, beauty and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Henry Martin Dial, Jr.; husband Judge Lawrence Dawson; daughter Laura Dawson Chamberlin; brother Dr. Bud Dial; sister Pat Henry; Allie and Lawrence Dawson, Sr.; and Banks (Louise) and John (Nelle Jane) Dawson.

Survivors include daughters Dana McLellan and husband Mac and Robin Banks Dawson; son-in-law Greg Chamberlin; brother-in-law Sterling Henry; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private graveside service will be 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. John Landis officiatin­g. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Robinson’s. Current Arkansas covid-19 guidelines of 10 people visiting at a time will apply for the visitation.

SPRINGDALE — Jack Cordell, 90, of Springdale passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Northwest Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1929, in Mountainbu­rg, Ark., to E.L. and Snoday Ross Cordell.

Jack loved his wife and boys, his model A Ford and CJ5 Jeep.

His career was landscapin­g, hauling and leveling. He enjoyed family day trips. He was saved in 2002 and later became a member of Peaceful Valley Bible Church. He reminisced about his time talking to Pretty Boy Floyd and doing things with his boys and riding in Kevin’s truck with him. He loved life to the fullest. He served in the Army from 19521954 during the Korean War.

Jack was preceded in death by son Dennis Cordell, his parents and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife Beulah; son Kevin Cordell of Springdale; and daughterin-law Dorothy Cordell of Springdale.

SPRINGDALE — Oma Jean Haden was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas, to Hattie and L.C. Threlkeld. She died Friday, May 8, 2020, at age 96.

She came to Springdale, Ark., in 1949. She was a retired dental assistant for Doctor E.L. McNally. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Haden and son Jerry Don Haden.

She is survived by grandson Brian A. Haden; daughter-in-law Patricia Haden; and several nieces and nephews.

She had worked for Tyson Foods and was of the Pentecosta­l faith. She loved being with her family, sewing and going to church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by sons Jerry Stout, John Stout and Kenneth Stout; grandson Anthony Stout; brother Joseph Wages; and sister Macel Bryant.

Gene Allen Parker, loving husband and father of six children, passed away at age 78. Gene was born the youngest of two children on Dec. 14, 1941 in Fayettevil­le, Ark. to Virgil and Lula (Head) Parker.

Gene was raised in Springdale, Ark., where he attended Springdale schools and sacrificed completing his high school education to begin working to support the family. Gene was a self-made man who became a truck driver and traveled the country for over 40 years.

He became known by hundreds of fellow drivers

and friends as “Effy” and “Hog Caller.” Over his career he drove for Steele Canning Company, Jones Truck Lines, Yellow and finished his career with ABF.

Gene never met a stranger and loved to hear people’s stories and share with others about his kids and grandkids. He had a kind and compassion­ate spirit and always had a hug waiting for anyone who would take it. He loved a good chew and chocolate milk. Gene was baptized at the First Christian Church in Springdale, Ark.

Gene married Lucy Evelyne Drummond on Oct. 25, 1991. During their 28 years of marriage they enjoyed time with their family and friends and were always ready for a trip to the casino.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joann Jung; son-in-law Rick Reedy; niece Karen Hurbrough and nephew Mike Jung.

Left to celebrate his life is his wife, Evelyne; beloved children Jason Parker (Casey) of Springdale, Ark., Jeremy Parker (April) of Harrison, Ark., Josh Parker of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Karla Reedy of Fort Smith, Ark., Glenn Marston (Della) of Sallisaw, Okla., and Julie Marston Roark of Springdale, Ark.; 15 grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of friends.
