BELLA VISTA — Eric Richard Olsen Tuesday, June 16

of Bella Vista passed away June 13, 2020, at the age of 78. He was born the son of Richard and Margaret (Heaphy) Olsen on Sept. 5, 1941, in Norwalk, Conn.

Eric graduated from Wilton High School and received his bachelor of science from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He proudly served his country as a captain in the Air Force from 1965-1970. He worked as a trucking executive for several leading transportation companies for many years.

He was a member of the Kiwanis, Highlands Methodist Church and vice president of the Hummers. He served as a Boy Scout leader and Little League coach too. He enjoyed reading about Civil War history.

Eric will be remembered for his love of golf, bridge, visiting federal parks and cheering for the Razorbacks and Red Sox.

He was preceded in death by many loving family members.

Eric was the husband of Jean (Bates); father of Jennifer Olsen of Queens, N.Y., J. Tyler Dawson (Janette) of Spring Hill, Kan., J. Adam Dawson (Dawn) of Bentonville and D. Wade Dawson (Camille) of Falls Church, Va.; grandfather of Abby, Shelby, Kaylen, Tessa, Payton, Nicholas, Haley, Duke and Sienna. Also survived by brothers Neil, William and Timothy Olsen.

A private family service will be held, then at 10:40 a.m. a car parade celebration will be held in the parking lot of Highlands United Methodist Church, Wednesday, June 17. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials are made to the Hummers at Highlands United Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715.
