SPRINGDALE — Ronald Hugh Atchley

departed this life June 16, 2020. He was born in Oak Grove, Ark., on June 27, 1929, to Charlie and Mildred Atchley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Geneva Atchley; father Charlie Atchley; mother Mildred Atchley and brother Deryl Atchley.

He is survived by six children, 18 grandchild­ren, and 27 great-grandchild­ren.

Hugh, as most people called him, graduated from Green Forest High School in 1946. He worked a variety of jobs trying to make money through hard times. He hauled milk, worked at a gas station, harvested wheat, and hauled hay.

Soon after, he was drafted to fight in the Korean War for two years, where he was a transport driver. After returning from Korea, Hugh met and married Ruby Geneva Ray on August 1954.

Soon after, they moved to Wichita, Kan., where Hugh began working at Boeing Aircraft Company, and they started a family.

After 15 years at Boeing, Hugh began working for an electrical contractin­g company, and then moved his family back to Berryville, Ark., to start his own electrical contractin­g company.

After many years, Hugh began to also work nights at the Tyson processing plant. He worked there until he was able to retire. He and Geneva then moved to West Fork, Ark., near Devil’s Den State Park, where they lived together until Geneva’s death in 2010.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020, at Hale Church, Oak Grove, Ark., with Pastor Glen Ludwick officiatin­g.

Interment immediatel­y following service at Hale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Paragould Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Ark., 72450, www.childrensh­omes.org.
