7 p.m. on FX Movie: Deadpool
The highest-grossing ”R”-rated film of all time at the worldwide box office, this gleefully raunchy 2016 Marvel Comics adaptation finds Ryan Reynolds fully in his element as former mercenary Wade Wilson, who adopts the alter ego Deadpool and embarks on a quest to hunt down the man (Ed Skrein) who nearly destroyed his life. Morena Baccarin co-stars as Wade’s girlfriend, Vanessa, and T.J. Miller plays his best friend, Weasel. Gina Carano also is featured.
7 p.m. on TNT Movie: Saving Private Ryan
Steven Spielberg won the best director Oscar for this 1998 World War II drama, whose opening portrayal of the Normandy invasion is one of the most powerful war sequences in movie history. Tom Hanks stars as the captain in charge of a platoon assigned to go behind enemy lines and retrieve a private (Matt Damon) whose three brothers have all been killed. Edward Burns and Tom Sizemore also star, with Jeremy Davies very affecting as the platoon’s interpreter.
8 p.m. on TRAVEL The Dead Files
The new episode “Watched by the Dead” takes medium Amy Allan and former homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi to Brumley, Mo., where the owner of a bed & breakfast reports that paranormal disturbances are keeping customers awake at night. Later, in Hardinsburg, Ind., Steve and Amy try to stop a vicious entity that threatens the well-being of a local family.
9 p.m. on TCM Movie: The Searchers
Many consider this 1956 offering from veteran Western director John Ford to be the all-time best of the genre. It stars John Wayne as a Civil War soldier whose niece (Natalie Wood) has been kidnapped by the Comanches. Accompanied by her half brother (Jeffrey Hunter), he spends five years searching and eventually finds her. But she has assimilated into the tribe so thoroughly, her Indian-hating uncle now sees her as one of them. Vera Miles and Ward Bond also star.
