When it comes to U.S., most people immigrated

We all must remember, including the leaders of this country, that we all are immigrants to North America, Mexico and South America, except for the Natives that welcomed us and now are often locked up in jails and so forth.

They may have lost the war, but were smart enough to have their own nations within the U.S.
