CLARKSVILLE — Gaye Strong Taylor,
age 85, died peacefully July 19, 2020. She was born Jan. 3, 1935, in Clarksville Ark., to Gayland and Ruby Strong.
She was married to George M. Taylor who preceded her in death. Her sister Sonia Strong Pendergrass and brother Edward Dwight Strong also preceded her in death.
Gaye was a dedicated educator who enjoyed visiting with her students years later, a member of P.E.O, playing bridge, entertaining, talking about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life was a living example of kindness, grace, and an abundance of love.
Gaye is survived by three sons and one daughter: James Gayland Johnson (Florence) of Springdale, Ark., Robert Hodge Johnson of Clarksville, Ark., George Taylor (Kristi) of Evansville, Ind., and Stephanie Taylor of Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; cousin David Taylor of Clarksville, Ark.; niece Sarna Pendergrass of Jackson, Wyo.; and nephew John Pendergrass of St. Louis, Mo.
A day of viewing will be held at Hardwicke Funeral Home on Friday, July 24, in Clarksville, Ark. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Mount Airy Memorial Cemetery, Ludwig, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be directed to the Sonia Pendergrass scholarship at Hendrix College. Donations can be made via www.Hendrix.edu/Giving
