BAKERSFIEL­D, Calif. — Fonda May Sullivan

was born March 9, 1931, in Laverne. Okla., to Mark and Alma Alden. She passed away in Bakersfiel­d, Calif., on July 28, 2020. She was 89 years old.

Fonda married Eugene A. Sullivan on Oct. 2, 1948, and graduated from Guymon High School in 1949. Fonda raised her children in Guymon, Okla., and Garden City, Kan.

She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Garden City, Kan. and in Bella Vista, Ark. After retirement back to Garden City, she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Garden City before moving to Bakersfiel­d, Calif., in 2017.

Fonda enjoyed 25 years of retirement with Gene in Bella Vista, Ark., and south Texas, playing bingo, going to church, playing tennis, playing cards with friends, eating the fish dad caught, and enjoying life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister; daughters Janice Jay (Bakersfiel­d, Calif.) and Jeanne Sullivan (Garden City, Kan.); daughter-in-law Cheryl Sullivan; and great-grandson Aziess Whitehurst.

Her family that survives includes sons Joe Sullivan (Gayle) of Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Sullivan (Shannan) of Garden City, Kan., and Jay Sullivan (Jaye) of Bakersfiel­d, Calif.; 17 grandchild­ren, 16 great-grandchild­ren, and three great-great-grandchild­ren. All of these grandchild­ren are scattered across Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Arizona, Florida and California.

Fonda requested there be no services.

In remembranc­e of her, these are the three best options: 1) Find a Taco Tuesday night at your local restaurant and enjoy some ground beef tacos and/or 2) find your local bingo session and let her rip and/or 3) Play Farkle, Boggle, or Pass the Ace….Bring your quarters!
