ROGERS — Kathleen Lucille Dickerson, age 91,
of Rogers died Saturday, Aug.1, 2020, at her residence. She was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Erie, Kan., the daughter of Trixie Powell and George Hager.
She was an only child, working for the phone company for many years, she put herself through Pittsburg State University. She met her husband Aaron while attending college.
She was involved with many organizations — Rogers Noon Lions Club, Quester’s Club, Business and Professional Women, Kappa Sorority, She served as a board member of the Rogers Historical Museum. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Rogers.
She was a career English teacher, serving for 40 years in the Rogers School District. She retired from Elmwood Middle School. She substituted for many years with the Rogers School District after retirement. Through her many years of teaching, she influenced many generations in Rogers. She also inspired many students to serve as teachers themselves.
She was preceded in death by her husband, retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Aaron Dickerson in 1989; son Mark Dickerson in April 2020; granddaughter Julie Petree; and her parents.
Kathleen is survived by grandchildren Chris Dickerson and wife Jennifer of Bentonville; Sarah Wooten and husband Travis of Rogers, and Tony Petree and wife Rachel of Rogers; and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be announced at a later date by the family. Memorials may be sent to The Rogers Historical Museum.
