BENTONVILLE — Eugene T. Lovell
of Bentonville, known to all as Gene, passed away Aug. 4, 2020. He was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Dodge City, Kan., to the late Roy and Nina Lovell. Gene will be remembered as a friendly, hard-working man who loved his family and community. He worked many different jobs in his life, driving trucks for RD Owens and others, and working as a butcher all around the fourstate area. He retired as an employee of the city of Bentonville.
He enthusiastically supported all Bentonville High School sports and drove the bus for their football team for some time. He was also an avid outdoorsman, fishing, camping, and hunting with his family and his championship coon hounds. He was a member of Park Street Baptist Church in Bentonville.
Gene’s survivors include children Jean Brooks of Bentonville, Janie Ferguson (Steve) of Pea Ridge, Butch Lovell (Glenda) of Bentonville, Jerry Wayne Lovell (Robyn) of Bella Vista and Roy “RV” Lovell of Rogers; sister Pearl Whorton; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Geraldine “Jerrie” Lovell; and sister Mary Ann Farriester.
All are invited to visit with Gene’s family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bentonville Cemetery.
His pallbearers are Jimmy Brooks, Stevie Ferguson, Trae Lovell, Roy Lovell, Will Ferguson and Trent Lovell. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Lovell, Dakota Smithernan, Cameron Kruse, Beu Lovell, Brent Ferguson, Samuel Brooks and Zac Wolfenbarger.
