Live up to philosophy

-

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Strong and powerful words are the preamble to Our Constitution. Examine them individually and collectively in light of our current situation.

Lacking tranquility, lacking promotion of the general welfare, lacking any providing for common defense, lacking the blessings of liberty and lacking justice should cause each of us to pause for just a moment to reflect on what and whom we have become.

Now evident in Bob Woodward’s interviews with our POTUS, the presidential decision to “downplay” the covid-19 virus and to call it a Democrat hoax is perhaps felonious and contrary to the idea promoting the “general welfare” stated in the preamble.

Carl Bernstein refers to this as perhaps “the greatest presidential felony in history.” Remarkable that our Republican representatives still find it convenient to defend the de facto leader of the Republican Party. It seems that they have sold their souls to the Devil in the personification of Donald Trump.

We as the citizens of this republic hold the power. Not the politicians. The power to vote. To choose our representation at all levels of government. To cast out those who have failed their sworn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. In our POTUS’ own words, “to drain the swamp.”

It is time for each one of us to reflect on the words in that preamble and decide if our current representation lives up to the words or philosophy implied.

Vote! CHRIS BAKER Little Rock
